Bell/Bryant for #2 pick in the draft. Steelers select Saquon Barkley, then grab one of the ILB's available at 28. Not sure if the NYG would go for this, as they may not want to trade out of the 1st round. This saves the Steelers tons of cap room and gets a STUD RB to take over.

    Thoughts?

Not enough return for the value. Would need to sweeten the deal on the Giants side.

Then it would also hinge on the Giants being able to negotiate a long term deal with Bell before the trade happens because you don't pay that much for a rental player

Since we're giving them 2 players (Bell, Bryant), I want 2 in return. The 2nd pick in the draft and OBJ. Fair is fair, right?

Hey NYG, take two dopey problem children off our hands and give us a high pick too.

This trade will never happen, the Gs can stand pat and get barkley for 4 years 30M with a 5th year option compared to getting bell who wants the moon, and he cant be traded until he signs his tag which isn't going to happen for several months certainly not before the draft........

Disagree...The GIANTS wouldn't do this...Take Barkley at no.2, For a fraction of the cost...Plus all the other myriad of problems already stated

I don't think anyone does the deal but given the OP''s starting point the Steelers weren't getting enough value in the trade.

The last time the Steelers traded up in the 1st round of the draft was from selection number 27 to pick number 16 to get Troy Polamalu. It's actually the only time I recall them ever doing so.

I don't think they will trade LB and MB for the 2nd pick or from Pick #28 all the up to the 2nd slot. History shows that it just is not their way of doing business. I think there will be a lot of trades early in this draft but the Steelers will most likely stay put at 28.

They're not looking for that. They already have problems with odell.

I posted this idea a couple months ago, but instead of the #2 pick overall, I had them trading Bell for the Giants second rounder. But the only way a NYG for Bell trade happens is if the Browns take Barkley #1 and go after their QB with the #4 pick imo. Rooneys and Maras are close and he's out of the conference.

If Bell for a second rounder doesn't seem like enough value, then the Gmen could throw in a mid to late rounder. Steelers save a ton of $$, get a young RB with their #28 pick and don't have to worry about Bell's holdout or drug suspensions. Love Bell but how can they afford him and AB84 over the long haul.

What would you reckon Bell's trade value is? For the sake of argument, let's say Pitt can trade him with one yr left under contract at the tag price of $14M.

I wouldn't think that you'd get a very high 2nd rounder (like NYGs) under those terms. That's a lot of give up for a one year player with a very high cap hit. I can't imagine anyone would give a first rounder for him.

I think the trade would hinge a lot on NYG having the parameters of a longer term deal in mind and having some inclination he would accept it. That way they are not giving up a high pick on a rental. I'm sure the Steelers would be able to give NY that info.

As for trade value, I honestly couldn't say. Teams and what they value vary from GM to GM. I think a second rounder would be obtainable imo.

I always love these trade ideas but keep dreaming. Kevin Colbert is a boring GM. He doesn't make big trades and neither do the Steelers in general. The last big trade involved Jerome Bettis.

Maybe the Steeler can trade the statue of Mr Rodgers to the NYG for the Statue of Liberty,. It may not be enough though ,perhaps the Giants can kick in a 2019 3rd rounder too.

We could trade Peduto to the NYG for DeBlassio. Problem is they might agree to it.

Barkley does look special and is easily best back in class. Usually best backs turn out to be what they appear unlike qbacks and other positions. Kijana carter got real lazy and could not put down the food. Was never same player is in college but usually cant miss running back studs pan out in NFL. Same thing happened to that guy from alabama that kept getting arrested. Got lazy and stopped working out. Can not do that and expect to be good in nfl

The only way we ever trade up for a high pick at this point is if it is an emergency out of nowhere, such as if Ben suddenly changed his mind and retired.
