I agree but you can also find a DT in the 4-6th. Also is Buggs the guy in training to take over if Digger leaves? It is all about value and quality in the draft, last year the DT position was super deep I haven't looked at what this draft holds.

Given that the Steelers couldn't possibly fit him under the cap and likely wouldn't want him back if they could, this is a blatant lie told because he made the likely-correct assumption that the team would not call bull****.

I think he is posturing for the offseason. He wants out of gang-green.

Bell knew what he was getting into with the Jets. Yeah, he wanted to reset the market salary for RBs (Ha!) He wanted to get paid as a #1 RB and a #2 WR. However, in the end of his final days in Pittsburgh he made some ludicrous comment about not wanting to be overworked. Newsflash Bell, you can't have your cake and eat it too. He knew the Jets sucked. It was always about the money never the team with him. He has/had a very patient and unique running style that our O-Line was accustom to. The Jets are not there with that.

Once again it was always about the money. How great of a gig did he have here (rhetorically)? A possible HOF career if he hung around. I personally miss the guy and what he brings to the team. Yes, I would take him back. Many around here, probably out of anger, thought that Connor would seamlessly take his place. I knew better and it shows. STEELWINDS

Conner filled Bells shoes last year, which surprised me. I don't blame the running woes on Conner. I wish he was a bit more durable since he likes to run like the bus.

Yup, from a production standpoint he did replace Bell.

His injuries and ball security is where he falls short.

RB depth: w Conner and Snell out - we have Samuels, Tre Edmunds, and Tony Brooks James (Oregon) and Darrin Hall (Pitt)

I remember liking Hall as a darkhorse in the draft, if I remember right he had a pretty good Shrine game. I am not saying he will come here and be a starter just saying I liked what I saw in college.

Would love Bell the player back but realistically he may never hit 2015-2017 levels again and he has priced himself out of the market for virtually every team not called the Jets. None of the contenders are paying RB’s top dollar because they know that the blocking is more important than the RB. Lol at the Jets for giving him that deal. They are stuck with him now.

He had it made with the Steelers and should have signed that deal with Pitt when it was on the table. I’m glad he didn’t because the Steelers cap situation would be even worse than it is now.

    Hey Roonatic.

Connor is a phenomenal personal story with his overcoming of his medical issues. Part of my job as a public school teacher was the working with students who were too sick to attend school. The program is called "Home and Hospital". Every school district across the country has a similar type program in some form or fashion.

I worked with students at their houses and various medical facilities throughout the city. The spectrum of conditions was wide and varied; from students with cancer to someone maybe with a broken leg. I just wonder though, given that it was cancer, did/does the treatment that he received make him more susceptible to injury? in other words, did his treatment somehow weaken him to some degree to hold up to the rigors of professional football? I am not a doctor and do not know the answer to that question. He does seem to be banged up quite a bit. Then again, historically so do some other players who have no prior medical conditions. Good for him though. Go James!!!:clapping:

Think how foolish our GM is... he let a great back walk over a contract dispute then tried to trade to get same guy back and would have to sign him anyway. Maybe it didn’t happen, but if it did, it is stupid.

Bell has a contract, so he wouldn't have to sign him again.

That said, it isn't true and we know that because of the contract. They couldn't get Bell in under the cap this season.

I thought Buggs was more of a DE, rather than a NT type.

I get that they wouldn’t have to sign him to a new contract, the point is we would be paying him the contract he was asking for anyway. We should not have let him go in the first place. General Managers have to manage everyone, not just the TJ Watts of the world.

They didn't let him go. He became a free agent and left.

Bell blew it, as did Brown. If Bell had even a pea-size brain in his head, he knew that he was not going to have the success with the Jets that he did with the Steelers. It was, and always seems to be, about the money with him. His value is slipping. He had it made here. Great Team, Great Organization. an O-Line that had chemistry with his running style. I really believe that he had/has HOF potential if he stuck around here. Either he got some bad advice from his agent or he was just too stubborn to take the reasonable deal that the Steelers were offering him. Maybe a combination of both. Either way, time is running out on him. And yes, for the record, I would take him back. STEELWINDS

His signing bonus would have stayed with the Jets so he would have been significantly cheaper actually. Not that it was ever happening

I wondered the same thing. I went through 13 chemo treatments and 34 radiation treatments and I can't play football anymore. Of course, I'm 62. That might have something to do with it.
But, seriously, did he have chemo? They told me not to do anything as I had a weakened immune system. You would think it would have to affect the bones and muscles too?!

About 75% of the rants around here are people who get all worked up over rumors or something that never actually happened

I am not sure what he is considered more of. I believe when we drafted him he was a tweener 3-4nt/4-3 dt. I think that fits our system pretty good, but either way the last couple drafts have been very deep at NT/DT, I hope this one is too.
