We're going to need to use a high draft pick on a QB in about 2-3 years when Ben finally retires. I doubt that his performance will drop off much in that time so that means that we will be picking near the bottom of the rounds. So, in order to get a top pick we are going to have to trade away two or three years worth of 1st and 2nd round picks to move up to get one of the good QB prospects.

What if we moved down 20 spots this year, from #28 to #48, and pick up an extra 3rd round pick and 4th round pick in the middle say #83 and #115? The 4th round pick we use this year. The 3rd we trade for a 2nd round pick next year then we trade that 2nd in 2019 for a 1st round pick in 2020 so we will have two 1st round picks when we need to get a top QB prospect.

I think there are a lot of ILB's who are about the same in talent from the bottom of the 1st round all the way to the 3rd round.

ILB Genard Avery is a guy who will probably get drafted at the bottom of the 2nd to middle of the 3rd round simply because he is only 6' tall but he's as good as the other guys who will go late 1st and high 2nd.
