Do we see anything change this year with trades??? Do contenders come out and try to fortify for the end run....do pretenders set up a yard sale and move salary for draft picks? Does nothing really change because its just to hard to help a team with just 8 weeks left in the season?

If the Steelers were to make a few moves...what you you like to see....(try to stay somewhat real...No trades for Willis or Revis) explain why it might be plausible.....even though we know the Steelers almost never make moves.

Rolando McClain ILB Raiders - McClain got in trouble to the point where the Raiders were thinking of dumping him before....Has been somewhat normal in OAK since being drafted. Raiders will owe him some money next two years...He was an Al pick...and the new sheriffs are in town. Raiders will probably be in 3rd place in the West at that point. Steelers will need a young ILB sooner than later...Foote had a good first game..but is still on his last legs...Spence has shown nothing before what could be a career changing if not ending knee injury...Sly already has one foot out the door....Could McClain be the next Farrior...1st rounder comes in from another team...and make a career in B&G

Sean Smith CB Dolphins - Smith has turned the corner in Miami both physically and mentally....made Vontae Davis expendable. Smith gets bashed locally but he is one of the better cover corners in the entire league when it comes to being thrown at....Teams just don't test him that often. Miami will be in the basement of the AFC East....have already started the fire sale getting rid of the former regimes players....Steelers could use another top notch corner....Ike, Smith, Allen, Lewis, Brown is a pretty deep field...with the size to hold up against the bigger WR's in the game.

I still was looking for a tall redzone WR....and I think Plax might still be the best bet....as I just don't see anyone who could excel at it that might also be available.

    Who you got?

There are rarely any trades in the NFL at the trading deadline I wouldn't expect the Steelers to do much.

    Yes...I said that

But I was just wondering who the board might be interested in if they ever did.

I would give up a first and a third for the other Pouncey brother. Is that in the unrealistic catergory?

I will have to do some research but anyone that could help our oline.

I would have to say yes...more than likely ..but maybe bubble....he is a 2nd year man.....and played very well....and considering the Steelers are high on Colon, Pouncey, Decastro....I doubt they make that kind of move.

I think our Oline is in good hands.....Starks, Gilbert, Adams......Colon, Decastro, Foster....Pouncey.....Im ok with that depth...especially with "next year" in mind. As much as I want the Pouncey twins together....I think I can wait and try to sign Mike as a FA in a few years when Colon is being moved.

I brought this up on the Dolphins board...and they laughed and mocked....but I truly believe its more a reality than they think. both Pounceys have said they want to play together again.....add in the 3rd Pouncey in Rainey...and I think Mike could come North first chance he gets....Now our Pouncey is a FA first....but he is also in the playoffs every year....so does Maurkice head back home to Florida...Does Mike head North to his brothers and a contender...or do they both sign with a different team to finish off their careers together?

Adams, Mike P, Maurkice P, Decastro, Gilbert in 2015!

Our oline will be good evenually. But they got to stay healthy. At least through one game.

Adams, Mike P, Maurkice P, Decastro, Gilbert in 2015!

Colon, Beachum, Malecki and Lee as the backups.

The starting 5 awesome...but those backups? All Gs? I know Colon can play RT, but still. Need to have a tackle or 2 in there. Beachum and Lee along with 2 T would be ideal.

Hack, I'm with you. I think we wait on Pouncey. Maurkice is going to tell him how amazing the organization is... I also think we lock up Maurkice long before he sees free agency, and I imagine they might even tell him they will pursue his brother if he hits free agency. Plus, as you said, they like Colon at LG, which I do too... for now. But when is Mike a FA? 2-3 years from now? The timing is right.

With his brother and one of their best friends who lived with him in rainey then throw in former teammate gilbert seems like it would be a great spot for him

Colon with that contract will not be a backup here....I doub't he takes a big enough pay cut to stay....he either plays well enough to get a deal here or elsewhere...or he doesn't and goes somewhere else to start for a year or two before leaving the league.

Mike Pouncey would be cool, but I don't see why we'd trade for a position we are already pretty strong at. Colon will be great. DeCastro will be great. Foster's a decent fill-in. Even if Mike's an upgrade, why upgrade a position that doesn't really need it? Especially when the starters are highly paid.

We have positions that actually need upgrades for real. If we ever get both Pounceys together, it'll happen in free agency. I'm too lazy to look up the contract lengths, but maybe at that point maybe Colon's contract will be up, or close to it.

Anyway, I like what I've seen from Willie. He is still learning and not perfect, but he can throw dudes around in a hilarious way.

I would go after someone at ILB that has either great athleticism and is in the wrong scheme or someone who could be a ILB starter in a couple of years. Find someone who the current team may think is a bust but has a good track record in college. This way we don't give up too much going after someone who might not pan out. I think we need to find someone to spell Foote and Timmons down the road if the guy is not on the roster. I would love another cover corner but I don't see any available based on our current cap situation and our tendency toward FA's.

I'd eat my own head for a mediocre corner. Is that asking too much?

Re: TRADE DEADLINE PUSHED TO 8 WEEKS....who are your targets

So I've been thinking about this post more and thought of another guy I'd like today. I think the prime targets are guys that aren't too old, but haven't lived up the expectations thus far in their career. That way they have some playing left ahead of them, but their team is willing to give up on them. The thought being that the change of scenery and/or scheme will help them (ala James Farrior).

I think Harrison's knee/back issues are worse than he's letting on, and I'm ready to call Worilds a bust. He's had time to learn the scheme and the position, he should be ready to step in for Harrison, but he's not.

    Which brings me to...

    Brandon Graham, OLB
Graham is a DE in Philly's defense, but when he came out of college I thought he was a Lamarr Woodley clone. He's listed at 6'1 270 lbs... If he really is that big he might need to shed a few pounds, but I think he's athletic enough to play OLB in our system. He's had injury issues in his first couple of seasons that have really derailed him (only 3 career sacks). He still has a couple years left on his contract, but I think if he hasn't shown something by the trade deadline that it could be a possibility. I also think the Eagles are extremely overrated and if they're not in the playoff hunt Andy Reid could lose his job mid-season, and the next man in could want to start rebuilding for the future.

I doubt Miami moves Long..even if he is injured (as he appears to be) He and Bowe both have played well...so its not like they would want to move them....unless they are in FIRE SELL move.

McClain is at the top of my list...but he does has contract issues....would have to be willing to restructure sooner than later.

I would also look at Larry Grant ILB from the 49ers.....Backs up Bowman and Willis...but dude can play.

Sean Lee, after losing to the seahawks, the cowboys must realize their season is over. Therefore, I'm sure they would be willing to give up Lee for a 2nd round pic and Larry Foote

beachum and lee can both play tackle. lee played both guard spots and RT in college. beachum played LT all through college. barring his first preseason game, beachum settled down some in the latter part of game two and did ok. he looked good at guard and he will get stronger and better at LT. he will learn the center spot too.

lee i really like too. he's strong and nasty.

i expect both these guys to be much improved by next year.

    let's hope anyway.
