I believe the list would have to be at least 25 players.....otherwise too many left out that deservedly needs mentioned.

Ernie Stautner #1. Andy Russell saw Stautner come off the field with a compound fracture of his thumb, the bone was sticking out through the skin. Stautner grabbed some tape from the trainer, taped up his thumb and not only finished the game but played the rest of the season before then getting surgery.

Sorry but Ryan Clark is nowhere near the Top 10 Toughest Steelers.

    LC Greenwood
    TJ Watt
    Kevin Greene
    Levon Kirkland
    Dwight White
    Jack Ham

    but your list isn't bad.

All the ones mentioned throughout here are tough as nails but the scariest to me is a toss up between Harrison for his shear power and physical presence and Lambert for his pure evil disposition. Hard to say that Ward was scary because he was always smiling but arguably toughest to ever play that position.

You know it and I know it, but the announcers never quite got it and thought he was just a happy guy. They used to say the same thing about Elway except in his case he had a horse face with "Jaws" teeth. upload_2024-5-3_15-7-31.jpeg upload_2024-5-3_15-6-24.jpeg :lolol:

Even though he whined and complained about his relationship with Noll, Bradshaw took some shots in the pocket to make plays.

Ryan Shazier is probably the toughest Steelers player ever. Simply because of what he had to overcome simply just to walk again.

Ben took a full force shot from Ngata, who breaks his nose, and shook it off like it was nothin! Ben is top 5!!! The only QB to get better the more shots he took in a game.

If it was a lifting contest... maybe Kemo Von Oelhoffen. That due was tank!

Clark wouldn’t come to mind, but his hit on Mcgahee was one of the most devastating tackles ever. Seeing it live after the Troy pick 6 was pure euphoria!

I wasn’t looking at it from the perspective of toughness in what guys have endured or had to overcome. I was looking at it from the perspective of guys who inflicted pain and big hits on others. But your point is well taken. He and Ben are two that should be on there.
