A topic to get away from the incessant coach bashing threads (I’m not saying they’re unjustified, but dayum some people are like Energizer Bunnies with it....) and endless debates over whether we’d be better off if AB hadn’t gone nuts. I’d like to take the pulse of the fans on who we all see as the best Steelers in 2019. Give us your top 5 Steelers of 2019, considering both both performance to date and what you expect them to do for the remainder of the season.

    Here’s my Top 5:

    1. DeCastro - May be the best OG in the league
    2. Watt - He’s on the threshold of elite
    3. Fitzpatrick - Future Pro Bowler - maybe this season
    4. Heyward - Showing that Father Time needs to wait on him for another year or two
    5. JuJu - He’ had a slow start to the season, but he’ll get there. Nice job on the TD. Bad break on the great play by Humphrey in OT.

Good thread need to switch things up thanks, here is mine:

1 - Watt, he is just awesome to watch man is he great
2 - Minkah, everything we have been missing at our biggest position of need the last few years.
3 - Juju, I think he comes back strong after the fumble.
4 - Tuitt, guy has picked it up where he left off before the tricep injury
5 - Boswell, The Boz is back!!!!!

Hmm, good question. I'll go with:

1 - Watt. Looks like he'll have a monster year.
2 - Tuitt. Tough call between him and Heyward but both have been rejuvenated this year.
3 - Dionte Johnson. I think he blossoms as the season goes on.
4 - Boswell. Hopefully back to being money. Hopefully.
5 - Fitzpatrick. If we had come close to picking that kind of player with our first round pick next year, I would be shocked. Key upgrade.

I was wondering who Minkah was? I didn’t realize Fitzpatrick had a first name.

I agree he is one of the best. To say he is the best though is a bit tough. If Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts is not, who is?!?! Zack Martin still looks good but is simply not as dominant as he once was.

I just realized that we added 2 top eleven draft picks to the defense this year. Who is the next highest draft pick on defense? Bud? Cam?

    Edit: looked it up

Joe Haden was taken 7th overall

    Top 5, in order:

    Tuitt
    Watt
    Fitzpatrick
    Nelson
    Haden

    Others overperforming:
Boswell (well beyond expectations so far)
    D Johnson
    Bush (developing quickly)
Dupree (much more than what I expected from him)
    Hilton + Sutton
    Hargrave

    Underperformers:
    Moncrief (no explanation needed)
Barron (out of tempo, out of context... unaware...)
Edmunds (I expected much more from him this year)

I use Minkah because it types easier, and it's similar to an Italian slang word my uncles would say.

    Switzer :hehehe:

Fitzpatrick - Has had an immediate affect on this defense, last 3 QB's faced have been shut down.
DJ - Already seized the number 2 spot, looks great out there.
Bush - 42 tackles, 31 solo, 17 stops, 3 fumble recoveries (1 just missed returned for a TD), 1 Int, 1 sack. Still 11 games to go.
Watt - Machine, just constantly seems to be disrupting things. 4 sacks, 6 hits, 10 hurries, Forced fumble, 2 FR, 1 interception.
Rudolph - Very early but like what I have seen so far. Think by years end, we'll see that he is our future QB.

In no particular order after Minkah:
Minkah - not many players can claim to have made such a difference so quickly.
    Watt
    Bush
Decastro - He has my vote for one of if not the best linemen
    Haden

My list doesn't look much different than most of others, and there are others I certainly could add (Cam, Tuitt, JuJu, Nelson, Pouncey). I can't get past being frustrated at how close we have been to having an entirely different record despite the adversity, and it frustrates me.
