Bob Greise. Picking #10 was tough, LOL.

I guess Elway could be considered.

I didn't forget it at all. A TD isn't a TD unless it's caught. If it was caught, one of the most amazing throws in SB history never would have happened. Either way, it still only counts as 1 TD. Just saying, both Ben and Holmes were worthy. Ben didn't get ripped off.

There is no evidence of him or his team cheating. There is evidence of Brady and the Patriots cheating.

It is tough to compare them because Bradshaw played half of his career before the rule changes to open up the passing game in 1978, but Montana played all of his after that. That said, it's not as if Montana was averaging five or six yards per attempt in those Super Bowls. His averages per attempt were 10.2, 9.5, 9.5, and 7.1. The last is average, but the others were outstanding.

Bradshaw also had two Hall of Fame receivers. Montana had Rice for only two of his four Super Bowls.

Bradshaw did next to nothing outside of that one drive in Super Bowl IX. He was great in the other three, but it's tough to put him ahead of Montana. I wouldn't lump Montana in with Brady, who had some very pedestrian performances in some of is Super Bowls.

Before Rice, Montana had Solomon at WR and Clark at TE. Not too shabby, IMO.

Do you really think that a WR that has 10 completions and 180 yards, two TD’s wouldn’t change the trajectory of the game if you removed his production? Can’t assume all those completions and yardage and TD’s would just be distributed among the remaining receivers.

There is no “I” in team unless STD is the QB.

This is good, but if we focus on Super Bowls only I think you have the wrong Manning on the list.

Also, but for the Steelers dynasty of the 70’s Ken Stabler would probably be on this list.

I think both Holmes and Ben could have legitimately been awarded MVP. It’s been a while since I’ve watched that game, but I recall that Holmes had a really big catch and run to get us into scoring position on that last drive.

Most of the yards on that drive came on passes to Holmes. He made a couple of tough catches to get it started, too. The run on the catch-and-run wasn't spectacular. The defender fell down as Holmes made a decent cut.

I thought it should have gone to Roethlisberger, but it is tough to say he was robbed. He was better in that game than some other quarterbacks who have won it, including Eli Manning in the first of his two Super Bowls.

    My list

    1) Tom Brady - 10 appearances and 7 wins. He is #1 and it is not even close. Even if you took 1 or 2 away for cheating he would still have more than everyone else.

    2) Joe Montana

    3) Terry Bradshaw

    4) John Elway - The NFC was dominant during Elway's first 3 Super Bowls. You can't blame him for those loses. They were a significantly weaker team than the teams the Broncos played. He played lights out in the 2 he won.

    5) Eli Manning - This is a list of greatest Super Bowl quarterbacks, correct??? This guy did the impossible twice. I almost put him at 4.

    6) Troy Aikman - 3 wins is impressive. Aikman not so much. That Cowboys team may have won 3 with Steve Walsh at QB. Cowboys were just that good.

    7) Roger Staubach

    8) Peyton Manning

    9) Ben Roethlisberger - Put aside the black and gold shades for a moment. Ben was awful in XL. He started terrible and then almost brought the Steelers back against the Packers. He was average until a epic final drive in 43. He deserves to make the list, but 9 is appropriate.

    10 Jim Plunkett

Best player on the field in Super Bowl 43 was Santonio Holmes. It had nothing to do with the rape charges. Holmes won MVP because he deserved it.

Montana also had John Taylor at WR.

I’d put Montana at No. 2 for sure. I’d still take Bradshaw to win one Super Bowl game. True that he had Stallworth and Swann but they weren’t throwing the ball to themselves. He was throwing darts and putting the ball where only they could catch it and make a play. He seemed to find the “zone” in three of the four Super Bowls he played in.

Sure, it was a very historic moment but Namath does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, his stats was terrible, 173 touchdowns and 220 interceptions

I don't care for little Manning.
But I agree with Stabler, I give Joe Willie Whiteshoes the edge because he basically saved the AFL..

Those were decent players, but not special. Taylor was mostly a creation of Montana's greatness.

Clark was a wide receiver, not a tight end. Those two were good, but not special, certainly not anywhere close to Swann or Stallworth.

No worries. No way He was any worse than P. Manning was in His last SB win. Yet the Qb rating is higher.
I just pointing out that Qb rating is a :bscow: stat.... I've given a few examples, and nobody can explain it.
