I've come to realize that you get what you get with Fleury, he is what he is but the Defense needs to play better too. It's only been 2 games but I love the way Mike Johnston has them playing: Cycling the puck in offensive zone, simple breakouts, and the 3rd and 4th lines playing a physical grinding style- none of that was achieved under Byslma.

I agree with you that under Bylsma that they felt that way, I'm just more convinced that Bylsma lost the room a long time ago. Much like Tomlin is losing his guys, but the Steelers Management won't do anything because they want to keep their rep of keeping coaches for 3 decades- even if he isn't the right coach we are stuck another 10 years with Tomlin.

My point was at least the Penguins brass knows how to make a change when change is needed, unlike the Steelers brass. Look how much a breath of fresh air can do wonders to a team.

In an attempt to get back to the original thread topic....

.....I haven't watched/listened to/or cared about a Tomlin post-game "interview" since the days of his promise to "release hell in December.."

I think his responses are scripted. Change the date, the opposing team, maybe a sideline cap or two and they are exactly the same mantra (kinda like his teams).

Blah, blah, blah (insert same old story here as he says every other week we don't come to play). I'm tired of him. I'm tired of all this. It's trite and insulting to fans for him to continue this regular post-game BS that never actually addresses any of the issues (and certainly not potential coaching issues).

As for the Ben issue, I'm definitely not ready to trade him but I am VERY ready for us to start giving him some viable long-term back ups. We are overdue for starting to groom the next batch (if that's the plan). It is relatively unlikely, in my opinion, that we'll bring in a rookie or trade and have him play well off the bat, particularly in a system that has no rhyme or reason right now.

True, but with him it can't win more than 8.

I watch and listen to Tomlin only to get one of those "laughs" that hurts you inside while you do it.

You laugh at the same-old, same-old, but you die a bit inside because you know nothing is going to change.

Tomlin quote} They executed their plan better than we executed ours and for that I give them credit. We have to swallow this one and we will.

Nothing like admitting your out coached every time you lose a game: And he can swallow this one, but I'm not going to, after each loss it seems to be the same things causing the losses, maybe this lazy MFer isnt smart enough to fix this mess he created...

So he admits will swallow .. This is something not ever coach would admit to.. I give him props for at least coming forward and being this candid.

This team is a joke and its CTs problem. He needs to get this team inspired. As someone else pointed out he is surrounded with pretty damn good coaches, CL, Munchak, DL , JPeezy and Haley.. Ok maybe not Haley.. There is so much wrong with this team I have no idea where they should begin their reorganization. The Steelers are in steady decline right now and it is going to get worse before it gets better.

I guess if I was the owner I would start at the top and work my way down . If this keeps up there will be alot of malcontent fans.

Like Chip Kelly said, coaches are teachers, if they fail to teach then players fail to compete on the field.....Looks like we need to get some new teachers for this team...

So what? You don't care that our team is never prepared? That we take the field and are completely undisciplined? This is a big deal. We, as fans, have every right to be pissed with what has been going on with this franchise for the past three seasons.

I know I freakin care.. I am embarassed to say I am steelers fan somedays.. Today is one of those days after suffering perhaps the most embarrassing loss I can remember.

Paid good money and drove along ways to see them lose against a crappy Tampa team as well. SMH at this entire organization

Exactly. I have shelled out good money on jerseys and tickets to support this team.

And because they are who they are and have such a storied franchise I do not see ticket sales shrinking. I wish they would in fact because at least the organization would get the hint and do something to change this pathetic representation of a football team

This. I have been DISAPPOINTED in this team in the past (including under other coaches' tenure and with other players). I have never, to date, been EMBARRASSED like I am with this particular crew. I will always be a die hard fan, but it doesn't mean I have to accept/tolerate every decision, action, or failure that this team brings.

Because we can't run the ball, run play action passes, and have Ben wing the ball clear across the field NOW???

We don't do what Cleveland did because we don't want to.

Press conferences are what they are. He has to give one, he has to say something. I don't really bother listening to them, because there's nothing to be said in them that's of any use after a game like yesterday, regardless of who the coach is.

I said it in a different thread: press conferences don't win games. If the team were seriously effected by the way Tomlin did a press conference, I'd be even more worried than I am now. What matters is what happens on the training field and in the strategy meetings. Or what doesn't happen, perhaps.

True Thigpen82.. Its just like talking to a wall.. He is not going to say anything of significance. If he had a real answer for the problems that plagued this team he would show by way of better play on the field lol

In fact they might as well let Steeler Dad do the press confernces and post game interviews. At least there is some comedic value lol

Steeler fans are getting tired of platitudes. That's all.

Is he able to make them practice more? I'm not sure he can based on the new CBA. If I'm wrong, then please correct me. Because if execution is the issue, then more drilling should help. It would help them learn through repetition.

I hear people say that Troy should have been on the TE on that first big play that led to a Browns TD on the following possession. The second TD that went to the TE that beat Allen should have had either safety help somewhere, or Allen should have been sticking him (if Allen was on an island with that guy).

I don't know the plays, but it seems like the players are either in position, or are in a package/play that should have them in position.

I'm all for Tomlin grinding them through additional practice, but I'm concerned his hands are tied. Do you know what other coaches are doing to instill discipline?
