I've taken issue with a few things Tomlin has said, but I saw nothing in the article that I disagreed with. The gist of the article was that the Steelers will simplify the game plan and put Vick in a position to be successful. Did I miss something?

He stunk it up with the Eagles, and those Eagles teams were loaded on offense.. And he was a few years younger.

FYI Vick and Haley have been throwing out plays he doesn't like, so it sounds like they're changing the gameplan.

This was Coach T's pick all the way, the Rooney's

Yes Coach Tomlin was the catalyst for bringing in Vick. He also was the catalyst for drafting Le'Veon Bell. If Vick fails Tomlin will get crushed.

Putting aside the way I feel about Vick I hope he can manage the Offense for the next few weeks. Although we might see Landry Jones sooner then later. Vick doesn't go through progressions well. He isolates, if nothing, he takes off. That has been his whole career. As stated his ball security is an issue as well as we saw last week. That's not from being rusty, it just is what it is. Leaning on the bread and butter, Bell, Brown, Miller, Williams and not trying to force it they should be alright. The D needs to keep pace. They have been on the up arrow. Get through this game hopefully with a win...

Blaming Tomlin for something a journalist wrote. Priceless.

You and I have VERY different opinions on "stunk it up" then. As an Eagle he was 21-22, and threw 56 tds, 33 ints. Please don't confuse what I'm saying with claiming he's a great or even good QB, but he isn't the POS that some of the posters around here are making him out to be. He is more than capable of running this offense and winning a few games while Ben is out. I'm FAR more confident with him at QB than I was a few years ago with Batch.

I almost agree completely with this post. The exception is the last sentence about Batch. I think Vick offers far more potential upside than Batch, but I was far more confident in Batch avoiding mistakes. On the balance, I'm about equally confident.

add 19 fumbles while at philly too. a lot of sacks and fumbles throughout his career. his completion percentage has been on the decline for a few years too. he doesn't know the system and it takes him some time to learn systems. that's where i have concerns. we can only run a partial playbook. it took ben a couple of years to learn haleys system. we don't have that luxury. i just worry about teams adjusting to the limited playbook we can run and then we are in trouble. this will tire out a weak defense with to many 3 and outs. it would be different if we had a stout defense to hold it together, but we don't and that's what we were banking on the offense for this year.

I'm sure they will add more plays every week. Has he ever been surrender with the talent he will be now?

philly had a pretty talented group. the jets had a good defense when he was there. atlanta had weapons. he's 35 skills deminish, especially if you are not practicing and playing full time.

I say they give Bell 30 carries and Williams 20-25 carries.... and throw in a handful of very effective play action passes.

If our defense keeps going on the upward trend, we have a chance. People seem to forget Ravens don't have any offensive weapons right now, and they are missing Suggs and Ngata who gave our line fits. They don't have a pass rush. We can probably play conservative and with Berry's punts win the field position battle. This of course only if our pass rush hits home.

this is true, they were in it in all 3 games. If we get blown out then we are in trouble. I'm excited to see what our defense can do knowing they have to carry the team.

Yup. They put up 24 and almost beat the Bengals. Anyone here confident Vick can lead this team to more that 24 points? Better hope the defense holds Baltimore to 14, I think that's around what the Steelers will be able to beat.

hey if we hold balt to 14 and still lose I'll be kind of excited that our defense is playing well. Yea I am not confident in Vick scoring but I will be glad if he does.

Would you prefer that he say "He's a turnover machine who is a shell of his former self athletically and we're screwed!"

What do you expect him to say? He has to support his QB. I wouldn't expect anything different.

I never said what I believe, one way or the other. I just don't see how you would have an issue with what Tomlin said. I'm not a Vick fan, but he's our starter for the foreseeable future, so as others have said, what would you expect Tomlin to say? He's going to support the QB... Sure he has some turnover concerns, but to say he has no big play potential, is just silly. He has a big arm and can still run, so big plays are a definite possibility.

It's just like everyone gets on Tomlin because he builds up whatever team we are playing that week no matter their record. What do you want him to say this team sucks and we are going to blow them out of the stadium. Coach speak people.

I wouldn't say confident Vick can lead them but if Haley and Tomlin don't get cute(AB throwing the ball) and they stick to a smash mouth base I think they could make 24 with Vick hitting a bomb to DHB perhaps(nod to PWP) if they get cute and stall promising drives it will be gut wrenching to the final whistle

As a coach myself if you don't adapt your gameplan to the personnel you have playing for you at the time then you won't be a successful coach. Talent only does so much. Vick is not Ben so yes adjustments will be made. The framework of the offense will be the same but subtle differences in terms of protection, or route reads etc. Granted on a short week not a ton will change but to think we go out with the same game plan the Steelers had in weeks 1-3 is nuts. There is no way they open in the gun and running no huddle tonight. At least in my opinion...
