For me, the runner only changes direction after Tomlin has moved.

But we should really move on from this. Whether or not he impacted the play is not going to help our o-line, inspire our 1st half playcalling, or make our pass rush more effective.

He should have never been close enough to the sideline let alone on the field to even have interference come into play.

He actually steps further onto the field when he attempts to move!

And that's another thing that's overlooked. Why did he step right to move his body left? Just spring to the left. No need throw that right foot out there before jumping left.

Even the body language says he's guilty. He's standing straight up and perfectly still like a statue. If you're watching the Jumbotron you're not going to be standing at attention like that. There will be some fluidity to your body.

I'd like to see what he did leading up to that point. Wonder if he saw the returner coming and hustled to the sideline?

Really what more evidence do you need?

My guess would be that he was standing in that spot and simply turned his back to JJ when he saw him coming. He probably didn't really think about it, just reacted.

Do you get upset when players trap the ball and pass it off as a catch? If no, they you are rationalizing it. He was barely in the way, intentionally or not, big deal. I don't remember any outrage over Cowhers mock tackle. The runner in that play clearly saw him, even said so, could have caused him to alter his course, possibly impact the game. This is a non issue for me. If they want to fine Tomlin as a deterrent to others, I have no problem with that.

I think Tomlin knew 100% what he was doing and I commend him for it. It was subtle enough not to invoke a flag at the time. I think it was genius. I like that he is trying to grab an EDGE wherever he can. If that went back for 6, the game is over. For all those who never think Tomlin is "doing enough", that's evidence that he is doing whatever he can.

Doing whatever he can... legal or not. Yeah, let's give him credit for that.

As the expression goes, "If you're not cheating, you're not trying."

Also, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Don't know or care about that other stuff. The issue is what Tomlin did last night. If you want to debate cheating in general start a thread about it and ill comment. You know what he did wasn't right.

I never rationalized anything, I mearly pointed out the difference in the two types of senerios you presented. Much like the difference in the difference in an assault or a murder, both are crimes, but not treated the same in terms of punishment.
    Are you happy now.

Didn't say they didn't, just pointing out that they do in fact sometimes win.

Well you're splitting hairs with me and you know I'm not in anyway condoning cheating. Save that stuff for the knee jerk fire Tomlin/ Trade Ben guys.

And not even close to splitting hairs.
