    Tomlin may aswell turn his recorder on at press conferences and post game speeches and not even bother to speak its the same ol song see below;

    1. "We tip our hat to them" come on man!!!!! with all the hat tipping going on im surprise your hat still has a bill :hello:
    2. "They came to play we didn't" ( really Mickie???? players making millions of dollars off hard working folks by buying tickets to attend games and thats all you gotta say... :o
    3. "Its the nature of the game" (to lose?? Mike) seriuosly... :hmmm:
    4. "Those men gave it all them have and we came up short"
    5. "Its our body of work" what body of work Mike????? the same players are consistanly getting injured because subpar players are being bull rushed back into each other :(
    6. "Gotta get back in the lab" your a scientist now Mike??? jeez get real... :roflmao:

    possible fixes
    1. Rooneys gotta have a come to jesus talk with all Mikey and pick his brain to find out what his plans are to turn this team around and get some fire
    2. Better conditioning, stretching sessions gotta see whats up with your conditioning coaches before one of your players gets crippled for life
    3. Discipline, consistancy, confidence, timing, basic football fundamentals and awareness.... "this team lacks it real bad"
    4. Coaches ned to get on the same page and game plan players were lost out there alotta time they looked ill prepared
    5. Mike you gotta do some soul searching buddy within yourself cause the players aren't buying what your selling, although they echo what you say in words but not deeds

    Re: THIS IS A RECORDING!!!!!!

Funny - no one was complaining about these same words when the Steelers were winning consistently - or when they won the Super Bowl.

These kinds of threads - wanting Tomlin's head - come up every time the Steelers hit these kinds of stretches.

The "fixers" are not going to happen. Face it. It's not the way the Rooneys do business. We have had 3 coaches in the last 44 YEARS - 3. The "great" Bill Cowher went through CONSECUTIVE losing seasons and didn't get canned. He didn't win a Super Bowl until his 15th season.

Chuck Noll had his own cliches and other coaches do it too. Other coaches do it too. It's a way to face the media and give them a generic answer rather than having to come up with something that the fans want to hear, or something that just isn't true. It's easy to come down on them when things aren't clicking - but personally, I like it that Tomlin doesn't make excuses. I like it that he recognizes that we expect to win every game and that we expect to go to the playoffs every season and contend for the Super Bowl. Tomlin gets it. We're not satisfied. NOTHING he says to the media/us is going to be sufficient to explain the sub-par level of play. Further - it's none of our business what his plans are to turn the team around. Also - which players aren't "buying" what Tomlin is selling? I haven't seen or heard of any discontent with the coach on the part of the players. Maybe you have access to some player comments - or maybe even a player or two yourself that we haven't heard from. Everything I've seen/read has the players saying the same thing that the coach is saying.

Lastly - if you're going to say it, say it right. It's not "...cause the players aren't buying what YOUR selling..." it's "BEcause the players aren't buying what YOU'RE selling..."

Some of the fire should come from the players. We have no Joe Greenes or Jack Lamberts - the kind of player that just won't accept losing.

I credit Joe Greene with providing a lot of the emotion on the field in the early days - the type that can't be provided by a coach. Chuck was smart, but I think it was Joe that was the emotional leader in the early days, but Joe was also able to back it up on the field. We don't have that type of dominating player on this team. And we don't have anybody with that same high desire to win, and even if they did have the desire, they couldn't back it up. Rah rah stuff only goes so far when the other team is kicking your butt. And when you are injured, you can't back it up, and we have an awful lot of injuries.

Although Tomlin is not my all time favorite Steeler coach, one thing I don't blame him for is not providing the fire. Either you have talented professional men with a high degree of internal motivation and fire, or you don't. I don't think this team has a great deal of talent anymore. And when you don't have the talent, emotion won't get you much other than frequent embarrassment. And that is what we are seeing.

I also wonder why we are so darn injury prone. Too old? Not conditioned? Put in bad positions?

Of course, we don't have players with that level of tae

we are missing farrior more than we thought , foote has problems to adjust the scheme on the field there was time we were looking around completely lost , veteran qb manning palmer and hasselbek torched us because they knew our defense better than vick and sanchez (not the sharpest qb in the league)

I'm under this belief too. I'm still waiting for Tomlin to put his mark on this team. He's a 4-3 cover 2 type guy so let's do that. Make the move to start younger players that he drafted. The Natives are getting more and more restless with each passing loss.

    Re: THIS IS A RECORDING!!!!!!

I started a thread in the pre-season asking who would be the next target of the fans, turns out it's 2, Tomlin and DL. No one is getting fired so fans should give up that pipe dream. Tomlin is going to be here for a long time, only an irrational fan would thumb their nose at 2 SB appearances with one being a victory and only an irrational fan would try and discredit that accomplishment. Rooneys are anything but irrational. DL I feel will be gone after this season but not due to any firing, I believe he will step down finally. I'm ok with that because I think things get stale after a while, I loved Cowher and never ever wanted him fired either but I was also ok with him retiring for the same reason. Sometimes change is good.

Let's face it, Tomlin isn't going anywhere anytime soon. But I have always felt that he has significant weaknesses when it comes to contributing to the offensive or defensive gameplannning. I still believe that's why Rooney decided to bring in Haley as the OC. He wanted a "head coach" if you will for the offense in much the same way he has a "head coach" for the defense in DL. He sees Tomln's deficiencies. Do you think Belicheck, Coughlin, John Harbaugh, Jim Haraugh, Jeff Fisher, Gary Kubiak, Sean Peyton and other top notch coaches in the NFL have some input into game planning? Now be honest with yourself, do you really think Tomlin has significant input into gameplannning? Really??

He's a heckuva players coach though and does a mean chest bump. And his press conferences...catchphrase heaven. His act is growing thin. You'd better pull it together now, Tomlin, or you're going to lose TOTAL control of this team before you can say "the standard s the standard".

In a way you are right, but that the way you're implying. I think the problem with Tomlin is that since day one, he didn't pick his own guys, oc and dc. I'm not sure what agreement was made when he got the job about arians and lebeau but something was said and they both remained on, which is pretty unheard of when a brand new coach comes in. Granted lebeaus defense have been good until the last 2 seasons but im sure tomlin doesn't agree with certain things, but probably doesn't say anything because of the respect he has for lebeau and how much the organization loves him.

I belive Tomlin with the opportunity to become the next coach of the steelers agreed to whatever the rooneys wanted instead of demanding he pick his own staff.[/quote:70oas443]
Yep and by some accounts Tomlin got overridden on the one he wanted to keep which made him look weak as well.

Whatever you thoughts, Tomlin is not going to go. The Rooney's have to much invested here to fire him. You know, the Rooney rule. But when the Steelers turn in a 7-9 season which they will this year, they have to examine things.

Since Tomlin has come aboard, the orgainization has steadily gone down hill. Sure he won a SB, but we barely won that game and again, it was a blown 4th quarter lead. We lost another SB, which by many accounts we should have won.

What I continually see is no preparation. To cheeky with the players. I think he still wants to play. He doesn't really stick up for Steeler football. He should have raised holy hell when Harrison got fined repeatedly, yet he meekly accepted the penalties. He never went out on a limb to protect them.

This year is just the latest gaffs. The drafts have been horrible with few real additions. Injuries? Has anyother team experienced these types of injuries year in year out? It seems like we are always behind the 8 ball with injuries.

Then there is Lebeau. O.K. I get it. The guy is a legend, but at some point legends do need to be put out to pasture. One only needs to look to PSU. Wasn't to long ago that many were saying Paterno had outlived his usefulness at State College. Forget the Sandusky junk for a moment. Paterno appeared and rightly so, old and the game had passed him by. Again, many called for his head due the PSU lackluster performances, especially in big games.

Fast forward to the now. Lebeau has had a great run, but at some point it does have to end. Age, does take its toll and it appears, at least to me that he has lost it. Sure they can dial it up once in a while, but football is a game of adjustments and the Steelers are not making the proper adjustments in games or week to week.

Year in year out I have been yelling at the top of my lungs that nothing has changed. We still have the same issues that this team had 4 years ago. Nothing has improved and you can easily say things are getting far worse.

Look, without getting political, the teams course is going in the opposite direction. Unless changes are made, we are destined for failure if we continue doing the same thing. Football today is not a longevity sport, it is here and now. Changes need to be made quickly if the Steelers are to have any chance at a future.

Tomlin has basically ruined this team and it will take someone else with some guts to right the ship.

It boggles my mind some of things people say about Coach Tomlin. You'd think we made it to the Superbowl every year while Cowher was coach. Hell, you'd never think we had 9-7 seasons or worse under his watch.

I agree that Tomlin isn't going anywhere but I have noticed that Art II seems to be a bit different than Dan Rooney, from calling out the league on targeting the Steelers or allegedly overruling Tomlin in regards to Haley. We're all just speculating and venting but I guess it could be possible that Art II is not as patient as Dan Rooney is and perhaps would have a quicker trigger finger in a couple of years.

Absolutely Art Rooney II, is about business and revenue and when the Steelers start abissmal seasons he will have no choice but to beckon Tomlin up to the Exec suite for a chat because there are others that have a vested intrest finacially in this team and its ongoings. Im pretty sure he's scratching his head about now wondering about the injuries and lack of play so far.
