We were one and done as a home team? I'm assuming you mean the home loss to Baltimore? The one that Le'Veon missed? When Franco and Rocky went down in the playoffs following the '77 season we lost. Does that mean we'll be seeing memes with Chuck Noll decked out in magician's gear?

Is it better to lose a bunch of AFC Championship games at home, when you're a heavy favorite or to lose a first-round game when one of your top skill players is out? A friend wants to know.

We needed the Jets to crap the bed last year? The year we watched Michael Vick and Landry Jones take snaps for over a quarter of the season? The same year Le'Veon Bell missed over half the season? When our starting center missed the season? When our top deep threat missed a quarter of the year? Is that the year you're talking about? So you're saying the 'magician' coached us into the playoffs with his top players missing most of the season? Just checking these indisputable facts.

Ohhhhh . . . it's no longer about how this isn't Tomlin's team because he won a Super Bowl with 'Cowher's Players.' It's now about how it still isn't Tomlin's team because it's 'Cowher's quarterback?' The one Cowher didn't want to draft? Cowher wanted to draft a guard out of Arkansas named Sean Andrews but the Tomlin-haters like to rewrite history to make Cowher seem like some sort of coaching God even though we flamed out in many postseasons when we were heavy favorites. Dan Rooney overruled him and said he didn't want another miss on a franchise qb like the Marino debacle. So, to paraphrase, Tomlin doesn't get credit for any of his success until a quarterback who the previous coach didn't want to draft is gone?

"This is all highly illogical." - Pointy-eared Vulcan guy

Facts, or Stats, may be indisputable,

But what they mean in the context of certain arguments, is highly debateable,

And I LOVE reading the debates these facts cause on this board!!!:clapping::rawk::drinks:

Some are better at articulating their arguments, than others, but it sure is fun to read!!!

Occasionally, two (or more) well-informed members of the board will get into a good intellectual debate, about football....

    and other times,

A well educated member (or more) will just take a less experienced debater to school...

(I`ve been on the wrong end of that one, more than once, but it`s all good, because I learn from it)...

And that is just one of the reasons I love this board...

That bein` said, GOOD JOB EddieBurro!!!:this!::thumbs_up:

Way to put the work in, and refute the "Facts"...

Couldn`t agree more, even if I`m too busy/lazy to dig up the stats...

They speak volumes, and make your case...

    GO STEELERS!!!:herewego!:

I'd love to know how he's aware that they put more effort into it? I'm also wondering if Dean is aware that they invite about 30 prospects for visits and that it is all public knowledge and that they didn't fuss over Jackson anymore then any other prospect they had in.

Knowledge is a wonderful thing, too bad Dean ignores it.

FYI, Squeaky toy was not aimed at EddieBurro or meant to be disparaging to him. And I likewise enjoy his posts.

Funny thing is we didn't even have Jackson in for one of the 30 allowed visits. We visited him at his pro day and had dinner (which we do with a handful of prospects every year). There were 2 other corners that we met with both at their pro days and for in-town visits. Greene's dinner with Billings was more publicized than our visit with Jackson. Only in Deanland.

    Oh that's priceless :roflmao:

And how often do they draft prospects that they don't have in for visits?

Why did they have to show so much interest in him, whhhyyyy!!!! Poker faces!!!!

tomlin is barry switzer 2.0, but without the college resume.

You say that Cowher isn't "a God" then say all of Tomlin's success is attributed to Cowher in the very next sentence?

Yeah, Jeh, that was my bad,

    I knew you weren`t raggin` on Eddie,

I just clicked on the wrong "reply" button...

The one that quoted you, instead of just sayin` what I meant to say on my own, at the bottom of the page...

Like I said, I`m still learnin... Not the most "tech savvy" member on here, by any means...:goofy:...

And I think you may have been using "squeaky toy", as a different way of saying, "beating a dead horse"...

But, I couldn`t help it, I love the arguments here, among fans of the best team on the planet!!!

    Edit...

There is also a lesson here to be learned about how different the `net is, from face to face conversations...

You get no body language/tone of voice/ facial expressions,

And things often get mis-interpreted..(however ya spell that..):hmm:

I never said that. Just like I never said you thought Cowher was a "God." You're hearing voices.

I think part of Tomlin's success has to do with several people who came before him -- including Arthur J Rooney (and he's been dead for 30 years). I'm not immune to that logic (like some). As bad as many see the 'dark years' of the eighties, we weren't that bad when Cowher took over from Noll. Heck, a couple of Hall of Famers were on the roster (Rod Woodson and Dermontti Dawson) and several current and future Pro Bowlers (Tunch Ilkin, Greg Lloyd, Carnell Lake, Rod Woodson, Dermontti Dawson, Barry Foster, Carlton Haselrig, Neil O'Donnell, Eric Green, Gary Anderson). Yet nobody ever criticizes Cowher for playing with the 'house money' left behind by Noll (maybe because Cowher never won anything with those great teams?). And Noll is rarely credited with the foundation he left Cowher to work with. And Cowher left the organization in good shape when he retired (even though he had mentally checked out and a wasted 2006 season was a byproduct of that).

To not give any credit whatsoever to Tomlin for the work he's done is a completely different story (so, let's see if we can stay on subject). Tomlin is going on a decade of coaching this team. And he's doing a damn fine job. Better get used to it. He ain't going nowhere.

Apparently, not. It appears a large party of one believes that a coach's success depends primarily on quarterback play and little else.

Brian Billick objects. Now he STRENUOUSLY objects!

    Lol.

Not to keep this debate running, but... the very claim that Ben was 'Cowher's QB', and Tomlin can only win because of Ben, is tenuous. Ben is a different player under Tomlin than he was under Cowher. He is a different player under Haley than under Arians. Ben's career very much has those two stages. I don't think that's entirely down to the HC - perhaps only a small percentage, in fact - but it's nonsensical to suggest that Ben is like a carryover of the Cowher era. Hell, the way the offense looks today is almost the complete opposite of Cowher-ball.

    Agreed.

In addition, Ben only played for Cowher for three seasons. THREE! I think we tend to forget that. He's in his tenth season with Tomlin. Kinda hard to be 'Cowher's QB' when Cowher didn't even want to draft him and only coached him for three seasons.

In that case, I'm making him Todd Haley's QB. Ben didn't really mature as QB until Haley forced him to. Never would have happened with BA.

I don't know that I agree with that.

The more I think about it, I don't agree with it at all. Bruce Arians has proved to be one of the best coaches in the NFL and has helped to resurrect Carson Palmer's dead career.

You might also argue that Ben got better with a better supporting cast:

Le'Veon Bell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Islamic Hip-Hop Dancing Poet
    Antonio Brown >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mike Wallace
    2012-2015 Steelers o-line>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2007-2011 Steelers o-line
Ben with 9 years experience>>>>>>>>Ben with 3 years of experience
