There was an article this past week that stated that Tepper was the one that was pushing for Tomlin to be fired. So I'd imagine their working relationship wasn't a good one.

I was thinking after the Tebow travesty so thanks for clarifying. It’s hard to keep all of the team’s playoff travesties straight and don’t get me started on the debacles, lol.

That's exactly why I think this trade rumor with he Panthers is just a rumor

Of course I’m not sure we should put much weight into Tepper wanting somebody fired. He wants everybody fired. He’s kind of the opposite extreme of Rooney, lol.

True story. His MLS team is just as poorly ran.

The Commanders rumor has more weight as Tomlin is from there and the current Commanders owner is a former Stillas minority owner that wasn't so eager to fire him. Probably much easier for both the Rooney's and Josh Harris to work out, if something like this is truly in the cards.

The Washington job makes more sense for the reasons the link I posted explains.

I doubt Tomlin would want to work for Tepper. Would have been like going to Washington if Snyder was still there.

Does Tepper have accusations of a toxic workplace and a history of essentially stealing money from the other NFL owners, too?

I didn't realize Josh Harris was also a former minority owner of the Steelers, too.

I hadn't seen that one. Link?

The only one I found was a Panthers blog. Here is what they wrote.

"What the writer failed to mention is the fact Tomlin and David Tepper have a history. The owner was reportedly part of the minority consortium that wanted the head coach fired once upon a time. This could mean a potential bridge to bring him on board has been burned before the race has even begun."

This reads as if the blogger hadn't done any reporting on his own and was likely basing this on the report by Florio and assuming all of the minority owners wanted Tomlin gone. If you look at what Florio wrote, that isn't the case.

it's certainly possible Tepper wanted Tomlin gone. He has shown nothing but impatience as owner of the Panthers, so it would fit with his established pattern. That said, we've got nothing but an anonymously-sourced report that doesn't make it clear if Tepper wanted him out or not.

No team is giving up a top 10 pick for Tomlin .

Not sure what you are saying, Snyder is gone, they cleaned that up.

Why does being a former minority owner make Tepper the preferred landing spot? He has an itchy trigger finger why would Tomlin go from the most stable job to the least stable.

If Glazer is as good as friends with Tomlin as DK indicates then it would make sense that Washington not the Panthers are the ones interested in Tomlin. He didn’t say anything about the Panthers.

I think it's more likely Washington promotes Bienemy to HC, instead of giving up draft picks for Tomlin.

I agree. I know he is highly regarded by the national sports media. However, what do real bona fide football people think of him? They know his track record as well as we do, especially the last ten seasons. All that said, it only takes one sucker so who knows?

I feel absolutely certain that Tomlin will at least play out 2024. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he gets extended after the season.

But a second and possibly 4th is realistic?

Let's hope it's true. Better to get something out of a deal and begin the new era asafp.
Would be good for steeler fans and Tomlin as well.

Exactly what makes you think Tomlin at this point doesn’t have a no trade contract
If such a thing exists he probably had it originally or at best the second contract

Any and all trade rumors with Tomlin are just rumors

Zero chance he would allow it

Almost zero chance his contract allows it

I was thinking that John Stallworth was actually one of the minority owners who wanted him gone.

No such thing is needed. You can only trade a coach if he agrees to it. It’s not the same as players.

Hard to imagine someone with the background of Josh Harris being interested in someone with no regard for data and analytics.

You wrote that working for Tepper would be like going to Washington if Snyder was still there. That is why I brought up the things we know were an issue with Snyder but we have no indication of them being the case with Tepper. Tepper is just bad at being an owner because he has no patience.

I wasn't saying that was the spot Tomlin would prefer. I was talking about what was a more likely move. Of course, if Tepper was one of the minority owners who wanted Tomlin out, that is not true.
