Yeah, but some of their post-game press conferences were honest and highly entertaining.

"You play to win the game." yeah... that was a good one. Poor Herm. I'd like to see Tomlin vs. New York media.

I think Tomlin just watches the jumbo tron during the game with his ball cap and scruffy beard in a trance and mouth open. I see other HC's actively engaged in each play trying to make things happen (Green Bay, Eagles, etc).. Maybe Tomlin turns everything over to the coordinators and watches the big screen to see what they are doing. Who knows?

It was actually shown on TV last week during the game Tomlin had the secondary grouped up and was talking to them.

Tomlin could walk up to the podium and have the biggest meltdown in professional sports history and the same people would whine whine whine. But, he used a 5 syllable word my mommy had to look up in the dictionary for me. Boohoo boohoo

If Tomlin won't answer the question the first time, the 2nd time, the 3rd time why do you think a reporter repeating his line if questioning and throwing a fit will make a difference? You asked your Q, you got a BS answer. This was true with Noll and Cowher. All coaches and politicians hold the press in contempt, they don't say sh**, you can badger then all you want, it doesn't change.

If you're so tired of it, why do you keep listening to the press conference?

The Steelers had won 3 straight vs the Ravens, prior to the loss last weekend.

Tomlin said Matthew Thomas could play some at LB, if VW doesn't play.

its just plain coach speak. I dont think there is a coach in the league that really gives media the real stories behind their thoughts on their respective teams. They usually just throw crap to the wall and see if it sticks. Besides I could care less what he has to say since actions speak louder then words. Makes some changes and see if it brings this team around.

I never said anything about badgering or throwing a fit.

My point was, I don't think the reporters are necessarily free to ask some of the tougher questions, for fear of having their press passes revoked. Maybe I'm wrong, but I bet that's the case.

i think the same thing. These press reporters know they can't drill the coach with tough questions that show up the HC. I have heard them say that some reporters were banned and the media org could supply someone else if they wanted to have a presence at press conferences.

Can we come up with a list of coaching candidates that could do better? Serious question, no sarcasm or undertones attached, I'm legit curious to see who you all might consider as a good replacement.. I for one believe ( probably not a popular choice here) that Rex Ryan would be a great DC coordinator, other than him for DC, i cant come up with a HC
