That is the most frustrating thing. In years past it might have been we weren't as talented or something but rarely did it come down to lack of execution, especially on defense. Special teams have always been special in the wrong way for us... :)

This is a really good point. I was thinking about the wildcat play two games back when Bell just held back, waited for the play to develop, then hit the hole. That play was all about people holding position, letting the defense over-pursue, and people being where they were meant to be. Compare it to most of the running plays against the Raiders, and there wasn't confidence in the hole appearing at all. I'm not sure why it worked on that one play against the Ravens, but hell, if they could bottle it up and use it again...

You'll see him with the defense sometimes, that of course turns into all the time in message board speak.

I agree with this. He's not a micro-manager, which I really like about him. Besides, during the game is not the best time to be trying to coach someone up. Maybe go over adjustments and thing of that nature, but I always hated it on gameday when the coaches would still try to harp fundamentals and technique. Let the guys play the game, and leave the coaching for mid-week. I do see him jot things down in his notebook, so it's not like he's doing nothing on the sideline.

In my opinion, Tomlin's biggest weak point is the selection of his assistants, not his sideline behavior.
