Tomlin lost this game when it was 3rd and 2 and Drwyer was running well. We could have had 2 downs to get like a yard and a half to take the lead. And we burn 2 timeout.

I agree, a fade is such a low % play.. If we go with the pass it has to be some sort of PA bootleg

There are a number of things that cost them to loose the game...the BIGGEST was the punt return for a TD. While yes I too thought they should have ran it...that play wasnt as big as the TD return.

Why was Tomlin letting Dwyer sub himself out? Cowher would have rode with the hot hand if Bettis was going strong.

We should have ridden Dwyer to victory the entire second half.

Yeah, not sure why they called for a pass there as I think running the ball would give them a better chance to score, or at least get a 1st (can't remember if it was available).

because tomlin is an idiot or haley or whoever called it and if haley caled for 2 passes on the goal ine tomlin shoud have overruled it .. terrible.. but tomlin lost it when he names lefty as the starter..

If a player needs to come out for whatever reason why would you force him to stay in and have them possibly not perform as they can because they got dinged or something happened. Obviously we'll never know what happens in those situations when the player himself says he needs to go out...but theres usually a reason for it.

Dwyer did it twice in the game, he got the ball two times in a row for good gains and then subbed himself out. Seems like he just wanted a breather to me. He needs to stay in and deliver when the stakes is high!!!! Bettis ain't coming out there if he's hot!

In my opinion, this was the worse play call of the entire game (and their were many) I mean a low percentage fade to Wallace on 3rd & 2 at the 4 with a chance to get a 1rst and goal, score a TD and probably win the game. I mean even if you run the ball twice their and only get 1 yard its worth the risk because your defense is playing great. We hadn't even sniffed the goal line till that point. We then burn 2 timeouts, throw a fade to no avail, kick a FG and get a lousy 3. YOU RUN THE BALL TWICE THERE TO GET THE FIRST AND GOAL ...THEN RUN IT TILL YOU SCORE. Gave this game away.

Why Tomlin? Doesn't Haley run the offense?

Quite. This seems to be the classic "twist every event so it becomes the fault of the person I want to target."

Though I was also screaming at them to run the ball. Point is, if Dwyer is gassed, then he's gassed. I don't get the sentiment that running Dwyer until he's dead is the best way to play football. Especially when we have about six million decent running backs on the bench who can also do the job.

I also was yelling when we passed on 3rd and 2...especially with our backup in the game. It was a stupid call....but Im not sure why this is Tomlin's fault. Dwyer was awesome last night...he is coming off of an injury so maybe that was the plan to not over do it with him.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't we burn 2 Time outs there? He shouldn't have been gassed.

we should have run on an third and 2 two times , we were down by 6 we needed a td if we don't get in you leave the ball on one yard line and hope to have another possesion in their territory , not that we were marching so deep very often , tomlin fake a field goal down by 3 in newyork when we needed 3 and now when you need 6 you kick

A couple of comments. First, Dwyer taking himself out of the game after long runs is getting ridiculous. I love Dwyer and I'd like to see him as the firm starter, but he seems to have a conditioning problem to me. It's almost humorous that after every two play stretch in which he gets back to back good gains he's looking over to the sidelines for some relief gasping for breath. I don't ever remember Bettis doing that. When he was hot, he wanted to keep toting the rock.

Secondly, we're all forgetting that even though the fade pass was low percentage Leftwich threw a pretty good pass that the "elite" receivers normally catch. Wallace considers himself elite and should have been able to catch that ball and get both feet in bounds. It was a poor effort on his part when he had an opportunity to make a play that wins the game.

Anyone can sub themselves out. If a guy is out of gas, he ain't going to be effective. By the same token if a guy is hurt, the damn coach is supposed to be smart enough to take him out. Tomlin Leftwich! The Rooneys should hold Tomlin's game check back

I agree, while I did not like the call, Lefty threw a perfect pass and I can name at least 10 receivers in this league rignt now (and even a few TEs, and even some out of football guys like Plax) who get their feet in catching that ball with ease. I have said many times regarding Wallace, he is not a clutch goto type receiver. I love what he is capable of but.... He also had a very bad fumble costing us 3 points and later, on an admittingly low pass he simply bent over to try and get it (almost did) but if you dive forward you catch that ball (Brown would have dove forward for it, and so would have Sanders).

Yep, new public enemy one, funny thing is, same people who are bashing Tomlin for that call would instead be bashing BA if he were still here.
