For all of you whining about how Tomlin needs to be fired here are some reasons why that will never happen:

    1. The Steelers value stability above all else. How many times has "3 coaches in 30 years" been mentioned as a point of pride.
    2. Tomlin won a Super Bowl. How many other coaches can say that?
    3. Tomlin has never had a losing season. How many other coaches can say that?
    4. Tomlin's career W-L percentage is 0.651. That's excellent.
    5. Tomlin is beloved by his players.
    6. At worst, the team is going to be 11-6 this year. That's still a pretty good record.
    7. The Rooney Rule. The Rooneys are very proud of their rule and the fact that they have one of the few black head coaches in the NFL.
    8. Lastly, there is no one better to replace him with. Unless you can find a better replacement then there's no chance Tomlin is fired.

In short, Tomlin will leave on his own terms. He ain't getting fired. Sorry, Tomlin haters.

Did they ever line up Noll, Cowher or Tomlin on the field at the same time for something? I don't know that they did, but they could have had 3 coaches in 30 yds.

I think it was supposed to be 40 yards, because that is what the offense gained in the first half Monday.

Actually I think I'm about the only one (few others I'm sure) who takes great pride in 3 Coaches in half a century. ( love saying that) And I have stated it on here more then once.

OP, Tomlin would never ever be fired by the Steeler organization. It would tarnish their image of progressive thinking in today's NFL. Their would be a quiet sit down and they would let him announce he is very grateful to have Coached for an amazing organization but it's time to retire and enjoy my family. That is how Mike Tomlin would be fired.

This is dumb. Was Noll better than Austin in 1969? Cowher better than Noll in 1992? Tomlin better than Cowher in 2007?

The Steelers don't hire retreads, they give young guys an opportunity, thus you will not find a guy with no head coaching experience who has a better head coaching record than Tomlin.

I think the MT can stay as long as he wants is not quite correct. When Colbert steps down no doubt the new GM will have have some relationship with MT, but that leash for both may be shorter. If this team falls into an 80's situation where losing becomes the standard a Noll type of departure is very possible.

I think that's how it went with Noll at the end of his coaching career with the Steelers.

I think that represents one coach per quarter of offense?
