These answers Tomlin is giving to questions after the game are completely unacceptable. Someone asked him about calling the timeout with 1:09 left before halftime right before the Friermuth TD and why not just let the clock run down a little bit and leave the Bengals less time to score before the half especially since they also were receiving the 2nd half kickoff. And Tomlin’s response was I don’t know what you’re talking about. Like is he serious?? Like what would make him think that is an acceptable answer. People in this town namely the Steelers fans aren’t stupid. They know situational football and understand clock management. It’s insulting by Tomlin to give an answer like that, and it’s another reason why his act is beyond tiresome to sit back and watch. Shame on Art Rooney for extending Tomlin’s contract.

I want to bring up a a point that not many have made about Tomlin's clock management in yesterday's game. Maybe someone else has and I missed it.

Steelers trailing 7-0. Steelers get a 1st and Goal at the Bengals 4 yard line, clock isn't stopping. Tomlin burns Steelers 1st time out of the half.
1st and Goal Steelers 1:09 on the clock.
Ben throws a shovel pass to Pat F. touchdown Steelers, 1:05 left for the Bengals, Bengals have 2 time outs left.

When you have 1st and Goal, with all 3 timeouts and 1:06, why stop the clock?

Let it go down to 35-40 seconds, run your play, if you don't score and clock isn't stopping call your time out. If anything make the Bengals use their time out if they want a shot, if you score.

You want this thing to go into halftime Tied 7-7.

In today's NFL you better limit the amount of time you give any team and any kicker, you don't even want to give them a shot to get 3.

So no, Steelers score Boom, Bengals get the ball back, with 1:05 and two time outs.

A mountain of time to give any team. They are instant in Field Goal range within 2 plays, and on the 3rd play. Boom score a touchdown, and we go into halftime down 14-7. As we whimper and don't do anything ourselves with a 3 and out following the 2nd touchdown.

Now it was terrible, that the defense gave up a TD in 3 plays don't get me wrong. But, seriously, what was the rush all about, Steelers drive that ball for over 5 minutes, and then get in a hurry when they are 4 yards out with a minute and 3 timeouts.

Was a terrible job by Tomlin in that stance of view.

That wasnt just yesterday with Tomlin it’s something with the clock every single week. It’s obvious they don’t practice situational football in practice and Tomlin just makes no effort at all to get better at it. He might be worse now then he was when he first started. But for Tomlin to give an answer like he did after the game about the timeout with 1:09 left and made it like he didn’t know what they were talking about or just blow it off like it wasn’t a big deal at the time is just completely inexcusable.

He can blow it off because he never has to face consequences from the cupcake in the owners box. This team is stuck in limbo for the foreseeable future.
