Hope it's not some sacrificial lamb like Smith. I want a top notch DC on the team next year. That could renew some optimism for me going into next season.

Looks like he saw a fine female walking by.. Or he just realized that he's 1 year closer to not having Ben anymore

Best news I have heard all day. A day full of drama no less. While I would like to obtain a new Defensive Coordinator, there MUST be other serious changes as well.

Cowher got 14 years without winning a SB and had 4 losing seasons (3 of which were in a row).

Noll did nothing for his last 12 years and had 7 losing seasons.

Tomlin hasn’t won a SB in 10 years and has had 0 losing seasons.

Why does Tomlin get less? Don’t give me the talent BS either because while the offense is talented the defense is not. And if you tell me that lack of talent is on the Coach the the same can be said for Noll and Cowher.

Who's to say it was right for the Steelers to retain Noll and Cowher for as long as they did? Holding onto a coach forever does not force them to be good.

He's had plenty to choose from. Butler, Porter, Olasky, and Smith. Or all the above.

Noll and Cowher weren't fired, so does that mean the Steelers can't fire Tomlin? What happened with the predecessor should have no bearing on how a club makes decisions.

By coaching change. Does he mean that they won't put LBs on WRs 100% of the time . Just like 95%. That would be a change that's for sure.

Cowher never had 3 losing seasons in a row.

True. In 2000 Steelers went 9-7 and missed the playoffs. 98 and 99 were consecutive losing seasons.

You are right, 2 in a row, 3 total. My mistake but my point still stands.
