People can say what they will, but your "extracurricular activity" outside of work WILL ABSOLUTELY affect your work performance. I don't know if any of this is true, but if it is true it does help to explain Tomlin's regression as a head coach. Character matters, I don't care what anybody says!

I hope you're right, TTF. I don't want to be unfair to Tomlin and accuse him of cheating on his wife and kids based on some sleazy website. I hope he's a man of integrity that loves his wife and kids and has his heart and head into coaching the Steelers. I know there's an old saying that where there's smoke there's fire. But sometimes it's just fog or steam. Let's hope that's the case here.

 

I didn't think anyone accused him of cheating but I got to this thread late. Did I miss something? I thought the overall feel was that it was unbecoming for a married man to carry on in such a way. I WOULDN'T be surprised to find out that there are certainly many temptations that a successful millionaire is faced with being away from home for such a large amount of time. I've read that Albert Pujols is so concerned with this that he won't even get on an elevator with a woman if there's no man there as well. I know what this feels like. I won't council a woman alone. I've known too many good men that have wound up having affairs because of this. I would say that many pro athletes have became a little more discreet after seeing what has happened to Ben and Kobe.

 

You need to open the link that the OP posted. It explicitly accuses Tomlin (and other Steeler coaches) of maintaining a condo outside the city for that reason. And you're right, all men are fallible. You've got to make sure you don't put yourself in a position to fail. I don't know if you're aware, but former Steeler Tunch Ilkin is a men's pastor at Bible Chapel Church in Pittsburgh and speaks frequently about these issues. Look him up sometime.

Blount same here. Had a woman come in my office and said her husband raped her and pulled her jeans down to show me bruising. I jumpped up and snatched my door open and screamed CO!XO' ADJUTANT EVERYBODY IN HERE Then pointed at her and said pull your pants up. They were still down when the officers got there. Turns out they had three kids, she went out with her boss and came home at 3:00 am aka zero three hundred. Hubby stayed home with the kids. When she got home she called her boss and started phone sex with him. Turns out since I filled the room fast she couldn't take all her(hubby my Marine) had. But her plan was to have someone see her jeans around her ankles in my office, That would have discredited me. Good thing I was fast. What really pissed me off is she was a knockout.

I am not saying it is true or not however I have a fishing buddy that works security at a local resort since he retired. He told me he could write a book on what he has seen go on when the local professional athletes show up. He doesn't have much respect for them, or for politicians either. Says he could count on one hand the ones that are normal joes.

 

I would be really surprised to hear that politicians didn't live above reproach but I think pro athletes are pretty scummy and not very good people.

 

But... but... they're role models!
