I'm as guilty as anyone after a few bad seasons,"Blow it up, get a new coach and start over!" but a quick look at a certain statistic reminds me to trust the Rooneys.

Years since last championship win (10 longest streaks)

    Chicago/St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals 66
    Detroit Lions 56
    Philadelphia Eagles 53
    Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans 52
    L.A./San Diego Chargers 50
    Buffalo Bills 48
    *Cleveland Browns 46
    Minnesota Vikings 48
    Atlanta Falcons 48 Never
    Cincinnati Bengals 46 Never

Ok, I been lookin` for a thread to put this in, after I read it tonight,
And this seems like a good one...

Tomlin has been saying for a long time, how he desired "balance"...

He seems to have have achieved it...

    http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/7379816-74/steelers-balance-team#axzz3M7qddqWn

Make of it what you will...

I like to think of it as a plan coming to fruition...

When Mr. LeVeon Bell, only runs for 45 yards, after back to back, 200 yard all purpose yard games, we are ...

    Dare I say it,...
    "Unpredictable"....

Take our "strength" away, and we will beat you with something else...

    I like it!

If we can get "consistent", at being "inconsistent", the league would fear us like the Pat`s!!!

I gotta see us get consistent at the basics, like converting third downs, and stopping the othjer team`s offense, before I get all happy about it,...

But they did exactly that at the end of the game, against Atlanta...

No reason they can`t continue the trend..

    GO STEELERS!!!:herewego!::drinks::beard:

I like the fact that we are sorta becoming a "pick your poison" team on offense. As Bryant continues to get better we are REALLY gonna be that and if we were able to pick up a TE that is like a Gronk/Graham/Thomas type of a guy we would be lethal. I like balance because if it is good enough for Mr. Miyagi it is certainly good enough for me. I mean balance took down the whole Cobra Kai dude! Just think about that. If it can take down the Cobra Kai it can take down any team in the NFL easy!

So, to put words in your mouth, "Heath is washed up, and can`t get us to the Superbowl this year"...?

I admit, I`ve seen him drop balls he never did before, but I wouldn`t bench him , THIS year?:lolol:

LOL! Well not exactly! It honestly hurts to think about the time when Heath will have to hang it up but if we could really get the o line where it needs to be it might enable to draft a really speedy TE that would make us even more of a headache to gameplan for. He has dropped some balls this year but he has also REALLY helped in the run game and I really still think he has had a good season just for what he has helped Bell to accomplish.

I've thought that so many times. There is absolutely no reason this team should have lost to the Jets OR Bucs.

Both Coaches are good at what they do and getting better .The guy who is letting this Team down is Kevin Colbert he is not drafting well nor is he giving out contracts well .

DL and Kevin Colbert are the 2 who need to go ....

Have to crawl before you can walk. Those type of wins will get here. Obviously the team has hit some lean years, not going to just jump right back to the top. Important thing is to get them headed in the right direction, the fact that they can end up 11-5 with a division title is proof they are headed the right way.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Todd Haley to get a head coaching offer somewhere, we are on pace to finish with the #1 offense in the NFL in terms of yardage. I think a lot of people wanted him gone after the Jacksonville game. He sure turned it around.

I hear ya...I'm just ready to make another AFC Championship trip to Pittsburgh. This could've been another one of those years if not for a couple dumb losses

With our losses being to: Tampa, Cleveland, NY Jets and New Orleans....... I am not taking my foot off the throttle...., but I will wait until the end of our season before passing final judgement.

I'm starting to see Tomlin get a little more animated on the sideline. I don't know if he's always done that or the networks are just now showing it more. I do hear him a lot more from the on-field microphones yelling and talking to the players on the field.

I'm liking the mix that he's starting to develop in his style.

    I'm with you on this.
Remember when everyone was saying he needs to show more passion, and then the typical response was "He's not Cowher", but in the reality of it all, if he has a lackadaisical attitude than the players will also. He has been doing more and has been more of a head coach also.

I still would rather see him gone (and just on that some of you will burn me) unless he changes a few simple things
#1. Have a game plan to attack the opponent's weak areas and make the adjustments when the current game plan
isn't working. (remember when no team could deal with Heath- no one had a match up for a tight end his size)
#2. Continue to show more enthusiasm= The biggest cheer leader should be the head coach.
#3. You are the boss, not the players friend, act like it. (and to be fair- he has shown more leadership qualities lately)
#4. Recognize when a player should be replaced. Having faith in Ben is great but when he is hurt-pull him. (when Ike doesn't play well enough- get rid of him)

Tomlin does a lot of good stuff, but I don't want a head coach who is good. I want a great one.

Compared to our last 2 coaches, where do you rank Tomlin? Where would he rank himself?
These next few games will drastically change the way most of us feel about Tomlin- and I look forward to seeing him become a great coach, but he needs to take fair criticism.

I suspect the coverage angles play their part, and the moments he gets shown on camera.

For example, if there's something exciting/controversial going on on-field, the cameras are likely going to be on that, rather than the HC. If something's happened that requires a review or a response, then are likely to go to the HC. So this is when we get that shot of Tomlin standing looking lost, staring off into the distance. But I also notice that those shots usually happen when a replay is being shown on the jumbotron. So he could be staring, lost; or he could be watching the replay; or listening to what the guys upstairs are saying; or anything, really.

More generally, comparing his behaviour to most other HCs throughout a whole game (ignoring the obvious 'actors' like Harbaugh) his actions, enthusiasm and movement are pretty much the same, tbh.
