And if they finish 9-8 again, fans and media will continue the no losing season lovefest

    Rich Eisen especially.

Cannot wait for his usual "cannot find anyone better" schtick. Unless Russell Wilson or Justin Fields can pull Pittsburgh from the depths of the night, expect more of the same.

The year to year reports only made sense if thats what Tomlin wanted, like Colbert did towards the end of his tenure.

Otherwise having a lame duck coach is bad business. They can however fire him if his winless playoff drought continues. The Canada firing proves they are willing to break norms.

It took forever to fire Canada,so I am not sure about that

That though was due to extreme reasoning. Canada, as you directly implied, was as "lame duck" as one could get; the highlight of the plight that was the 2023 Steelers as a whole... inefficient. Such a case sadly doesn't apply to Tomlin.

How Tomlin wades through adversity during the season is what had, has and will likely to continue to win him over with AR II. Playoff drought or not, like @Arch Stanton@Arch Stanton stated and I commented on, Tomlin will likely leave on his own terms.

This is going to sound messed up but someone here has to say it; once Tomlin leaves the Steelers, hopefully AR II will step down and make way for Dan Rooney Jr. Extremely unlikely but very much needed. Like the change from Colbert to Khan, change must happen at the very top; ownership needs a new face.

Firing Canada is one thing, but firing "Teflon" Tomlin is quite another

Not only didn’t it crash, it turned up into a Bob Nutting bashing session.

He isn't going to sell. He can keep pocketing revenue-sharing money and watching the franchise value go up despite his annual violations of the public trust.

However, responding to a legitimate point about the topic with a personal comment about the poster is not so endearing.

Yes , MT won a Superbowl and lost another. Lewis never seen a Superbowl at field level as a HC, yes he was DC for the Ravens when they won a SB. Yes there are big differences. Lewis had losing seasons, MT hasnt.
Does that help the facts a little? Point I took is Mike what have you done lately Tomlin?

I was down on Tomlin last year and wanted to see him go but after all of these changes this year I have changed my tune. Bottom line is you can not win in todays NFL without two major components a great QB and Headcoach. Tomlin has proven he can win when he has the QB. Lets see how things work out this year with a new OC and these QB’s.

If it doesn’t who do you blame. Big Bens gone Canadas gone? MT best coaching days are behind him and a great qb? Where’s he at? Very optimistic and as a Steeler fan I hope it works out.
Coaching that worked 10 yrs ago and a qb who was great 10 yrs ago, dont have much faith in. I appreciate everything coach T has done, but after 17 years its time for a young coach with fresh ideas. Boxers know when its time to walk away, apparently HC s dont

Canada's contract is one thing, firing MT with what I am assuming a much higher dollar per year contract. No way ARII ever eats that contract. This sucks!
