Well, I knew he wasn't getting fired and I knew it was unlikely they'd leave him as a lame duck all year so disappointed but not the least bit surprised.

 

WTAE in Pittsburgh took a poll. Asked people if they liked Tomlin getting extended for 3 more years:

yes- 47%
No- 53%
Unofficial results, me personally I didnt like it. I wouldve waited until end of season to consider extending. If he didnt lead us to a playoff win, time to move on. Like I said appreciate everything coach T has done, but unfortunately it would be time to find another coach.

 

He still managed to have a winning record as a starter.

 

Better than 10-28 Fields, but wait not Fields fault he played for Bears. But, KFP gets all the credit for his record? What do I know, like you said I dont know football.

 

I didn’t pull the race card. Denying the fact some don’t like Tomlin because he’s black is asinine. If someone admitting it’s true bothers you, tough.

I responded to scribe. Why some fans have hated him from the start. I said there are a myriad of reasons and listed a few. One of those is race. Several of you are focused on that. For some reason that simple FACT gets under your skin.

He doesn't get all of it, but it's funny to see folks here make excuses for Fields while showing no patience for Pickett. Both were put into bad situations.

 

I was all on board with Popcorn until home playoff loss to Jax in 2017 season. Injuries killed the '14, '15 and '16 runs. The writing was on the wall after the '16 AFC Championship vs Patriots. No way was Ben and Popcorn winning another Superbowl.

 

It really has been all downhill for the Steelers in the playoffs ever since that loss to the Patriots. Can't blame Tomlin for that loss though, the refs handed it to the Patriots

Pickett aside they gave up on him. After 2 years. Fields after 3. The Bears drafted a QB. The Steelers are hoping for the fountain of youth in Wilson. You give up on a 1st round QB in two years it does set back the franchise.

Fields was a starting project due to his draft position. Erratic thrower , bad at reading defenses, fumbles and more fumbles, pick machine. And as you stated never drove them to a winning season. He is not the future. It takes more being a freak athlete to play the QB position.

Hopefully they trade him to a team that needs a QB due to injury, get back that 6th and a 3rd or better yet a 2nd. They need to look at drafting another QB in the 1st. Wilson plays well he will get an extension after the season.
