he's not the receiving threat they want or we want from that position. they have been missing that from rice. we saw from bell how much it means here too. blount is just that a sledgehammer. he would change your offenses approach to a game. if bell goes down we need a more feature back. I don't have a problem with a rookie again. bell made the transition, there are a few in this draft that could be our backup to bell and be a better fit than blount. I wouldn't have a problem if they went RB in the 3rd or 4th RD., it's a position of need.

I'll agree with this. I am not a fan of Andre Brown either...

  7. Why not AB? The kid is talented and runs hard. He played down here at State and is a good kid that gets after it.

If bell goes down yeah it changes things. But that is where we'd have to be crafty with our 3db in the pass catching mix. Blount moves chains pure and simple. Him and bell would be a killer combo plain and simple. A lot of upside here. Never been one to fall in love with a change of pace guy based simply on the fact the our line hasn't giving the change of pace guy a reason to gloat. I do know that having a stable of head knockers can get things done, and t here will always be a shifty 3db that has a different dimension even if it is during t he delayed 3rd and long handoffs from shotgun.

Blount would be a great addition, I'm sold and hope it happens.

I don't think he's a great fit for the zone blocking that we will surely put in with munch, and with pouncey back. I hope we put the guys on the field to run that system and not a mix of bulldozers and mobile guys like we have. I think we can be effective with a lot of linemen here and make that work. blount doesn't fit that cutback style of runner if they do. he would be a better fit behind the old scheme. would we change the line to fit him or fit our RB to the o-line? we have been trying to get mobile guys in place so we can do more with our backs. blount kind of defeats that purpose. I'd much rather see him lined up with will j in front of him. we just rarely do that though.

Blount had some character issues here in Oregon, although he was a powerful runner. MJD would be much better if possible. Brown could provide some decent depth.

I don't disagree about cutback runners etc..., but the Pats run their fair share of stretch. Just sayin'.

I mean if bell goes down for any length of time. it really changes the offense. blount will never be bell in the passing game if he becomes the feature back for any stint. now add that to his cutback ability in the stretch and it multiplies. I just think it retard what we have been trying to do for a few years and have not been able to do because of personnel. adding another piece that doesn't take us in the direction we are trying to achieve sets us back further. in NE blount was more of a tool, or catch a team off guard type of tool for tom toms passing offense. NE has never been a run first pass on 3rd down type of O. they were smart enough to tire out the d front with pass rushing brady, and when they were throw some runs at them. if blount were a little more mobile with the stretch and in the passing game I'd be fine with him, but those are not really his strong suites.

I think both Blount and MJD have their own strengths and weaknesses whether scheme wise or what each of them bring to the table. Unfortunately I think they both might be out of our grasp financially especially MJD. With the money being even I think MJD because he is more versatile. The question is if we lose out on both who else is there? I would really like to see us draft a change of pace back KR/PR but if we don't settle on a FA RB we would have to draft one and we really can't afford to draft two. We have too many other needs.

Is there anyone currently on our roster with any promise? I know who we have does anyone have a opinion or scouting report on any of these guys? I think we may end up re-signing LaSH and drafting Bells back up. What round if any do we start thinking about one? Thoughts?

MJD is out. Hope for Blount. If Brown, then look for a third or fourth round RB. If Blount on more than a one year deal, look for one sometime between the 5th round Comp and the 6th round comp.
