Coaching definitely matters. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you have a lousy head coach you'll go nowhere. Case in point, Tomlin with the Killer B's

I’m certain they were not asked for their opinion. It’s not really the chain of command that ownership would take pretty much in any organization or company for that matter.

Ok, I wasn't exactly sure how that works, makes sense though I guess. But something tells me they weren't exactly thrilled with it. I'm sure if they had any say in the matter they would've preferred hiring a new head coach so they could set there own mark instead of being stuck with the status quo. I don't really know though, I'm just speculating. The business end of things isn't exactly my forte, not that I really have a forte, lol

Yeah when Pickett flops this year it will all be about him and no blame for MT. As if little Mike didn’t have any hand in drafting him or surrounding him with this garbage offensive gameplan.

This is going to get ugly over the next couple of years, so who is the scapegoat this time Mike?

Held on to MC as long as possible in the vainglorious hope he truned out around and therefore keeping him around didn't make you look stupid. So that's another season wasted Mike, but hey you're still in a job right?

That’s on Art Rooney not MT. If you have a boss so out of touch with reality he is willing to pay you 12 million a year to do an average to below average job every year would you say no thanks?

Well, yeah the final decision is with AR, but Tomlin always puts his own reputation and survival first, not the interests of the team. Unfortunately AR isn't that bothered about winning anything.

The only change fans can hope for is at the HC level because unless an owner sells the team they can’t be “fired”

I hate what the Steelers have become under Mike T but ultimately it’s this Rooney Fraud that allows it to continue. His Father and Grandfathers brilliance certainly didn’t pass on to him.

I'm gonna play Devil's advocate here. I have seen this thought put out on here, mostly by one or two guys. I'm not from western PA and don't know much about the history of the Steelers B.N. (before Noll) but, how brilliant a football mind did the elder Rooney have when it took the team 40 years to win a championship?

    They went 10-7

He's never finished below . 500 in case you missed it (please pass this tidbit on to Knox and let me know how it goes)

That is by definition above average

Since math is new to you I’m here to help

Below average job with above average talent over his tenure...

5 playoffs humiliations in a row - he'd have been fired 5 times already anywhere else...

The over .500 record is only impressive if medicority is your thing.

LMAO. What does that even mean?

Your boy is what he always was in reality, in over his head, a triumph of BS over ability.

The extension was iced down when he told the players he is coming back. It was a given anyways. Not that I agree but we shall see.

The one thing I do like is that they will be looking for an OUTSIDE Offensive Coordinator. No Faulkner or Sullivan or the garbage Canada system.

Need to shake up the Defensive Staff as well. Especially the coaching of the secondary.

Also seems behind the scenes it he is having a bit of responsibility stripped. The way the Offense performed was a negative against him. So I believe a new Offensive Coordinator will have total control and bring in his own staff. I'm sure he will interview the remaining assistants but will have the choice.

This commitment best bring this team to the playoffs not waiting for all the planets to align to sneak in to get shelled again.

And I don't want to hear about winning seasons BS. His playoff record of late is abysmal. That's what it's ALL about!

So we shall see. I'm a Steeler Fan forever. Time to move forward to free agency and the draft.
