Say what you want but this Steelers team lacks talent almost across the board. Sure there are a few really good players; Watt, Heyward…….(sound of crickets), and some good, but often inconsistent players; DJ, Najee, Minkah, Friermuth, Ben…..

But this is a very poor roster. And for the Steelers to be over .500 at this point in the season with this roster, and a rapidly aging QB who can’t throw over 20 yards meaning the other defense overloads the box to stop Najee is frankly astounding.

I am sure this will result in a bunch of anti-Tomlin reactions, but who cares. Because if you can’t understand how hard it is to win with this roster then you don’t understand coaching, and probably not even football. And to those who will argue, ‘well Tomlin is responsible for the poor roster’, the larger truth is that sustained success in the NFL results in low draft picks. And when years of low draft picks and older/expensive QB play intersect, most teams crumble. And the Steelers may crumble next year when Ben is gone, but even finishing close to .550 this year is a function of well above average coaching.

No! You’re wrong! Tomlin sucks! All we need is to let Ben run the no huddle all the time and we are Super Bowl winners.

Obviously the defense got a bunch of turnovers because of Butler and gave up a bunch of yards because of Tomlin.

If we are going to bash the man for underachieving with a loaded roster than we should praise him for doing well with "young " roster. I still think this team is capable of going on a run

He's a genius! Ike Taylor told me so. Let's ask James Harrison how he feels...oh wait let's not.

I'm not going to get into the whole Tomlin, good vs bad, but there's no doubt the Steelers' coaches performed way better than the Titan's coaches today. That was an absolutely brutal performance by the Titan's staff. If a creed is put the ball in your best players' hands, they put the ball in their most mediocre player's hand, Tannehill.

It was unreal that they kept throwing the ball when they were running it with as much success as they had.

    Whatever. We'll take it.

I will give credit where credit is due. The Steelers could have easily fell apart after last week. They didn't. Tomlin deserves credit for that.

My opinion of Tomlin as a HC has not changed. I believe it is time for a change. That being said, I have to give Tomlin his due.

Your post has merit and TBH I go back and forth with Tomlin. The draft pick thing can be argued. Patriots have had low draft picks for years. Sustained success. Steelers were a force for most of Ben's years and we had low draft picks. Just look at the Detroit Lions for how always having higher picks does not equate to wins.

Even as I wrote my post I recognized that the Pats are the fly in my argument. But frankly I am resigned to the fact that Belichik made a deal with the deviil. No other coach would have thrown the ball twice in an entire game. But the Pats are the exception to every rule.

The guys on the post sports call show bringing up the topic of why do the Steelers have one of the lowest coaching staff payrolls? Some better assistants would be nice.

But don't ever suggest the Rooney's are cheap.

Maybe the Rooney's went to dinner with the Nutting's and learned their tried and true method. Screw what fans want I'll show you how to get lower priced people and fans will still pay to see them.

I know I'm gonna hear the argument but they paid TJ see see! Great but there's a player budget and a coaching budget and the Steelers is too low.

Id say we are getting what you would expect from a team with poor depth. Bad play for the most part but enough to play makers to keep us in games . I personally think the titans beat them selves. If they just ran the ball 90% of the time we easily lose .

Most of the personnel decisions were obvious mistakes. We still have some elite talent not playing up to their potential. For example the the guys not named Watt and Heyward. Haden and Minkah are good players. The rest are playing terrible.

as for tomlin doing more with less… I can only assume you mean he doesn’t own a calculator or watch. Because his clock management is a joke . We usually need to win in spite of our HC trying to f it up.

Anyone who thinks this offense is playing up to its talent potential is delusional. The play calling is laughable.

I have to disagree. There is quite a bit of talent on this roster.

We hurt at the O-line compared to other teams. Otherwise, we have decent to good talent.

However, O-line is a huge shortcoming. Ben is nervous and gets rid of the ball quick due to lack of confidence, just before a potential good reception is available.

Also, we are dependent on a few key players to play at a competitive level. For instance, if Minka did not play today, we would have lost today. He made key tackles after runner got by D-line. Watt, forget winning if he is hurting too much.

Overall, it is the poor offensive line, killer schedule and the flaws mentioned above this year why we are where we are. Tomlin irrelevant IMO.

How were we a force? Because we've had regular season success? What the hell have we done in the playoffs since 2010? Lost to Tim Tebow. Lost to Jax. Lost to Cleveland. Basically lost to Cinci as well but they literally gave us that game.

People keep saying we have a lack of talent. The only reason we're saying that is because we aren't playing well. Causation doesn't equal correlation. You can't say because we don't play well that we don't have talent. Perhaps the talent is there but the coaching is failing us.

Yeah we have some young players. But young players either live up to expectations or they don't. When an entire team doesn't live up to expectations, perhaps the issue isn't the players.

Lol you know what I mean though. Let's get some quality assistant coaches instead of the bargain basement shopping we seem to have.

I think the defensive line play is as bad as it has been in 20 years. We have Heyward and a bunch of JAGs.

I don’t believe Tomlin is the great coach you think he is. Most would rack up a large number of wins with a guy like #7 on the squad.

He did have an awesome time-out today though, on 4th down before the 2 minute warning. I thought for sure they would jump off sides.

Right? We had a juggernaut offense that **** the bed constantly when it mattered most.
