I assume you meant first-and-goal from the 10, which is what happened? The ball was coming down at the 10. There is a decent chance that ball would be downed inside the 10. They didn't want to risk the ball being downed close to the goal line. I was just posting what I thought was their reasoning. I could see going either way with it and I didn't love Johnson diving for the ball, but it wasn't an unreasonable decision.

He was very good. He's a bit old now. I'd rather replace Tomlin with someone who is actually available.

That was a bad loss but the defense fell apart without Shazier. Sean Spence played in that game. Even had the Steelers won they were going nowhere that year with that defense.

Tomlin has never had a losing season. That’s a heck of an accomplishment.

Reasons or excuses, it doesn't matter. When you have the talent Tomlin had and rack up a history of missing the playoffs or one and done, it just doesn't matter.

The crap that crippled this team with Bryant, Bell, and Brown didn't happen in a vacuum, those guys were a product of the environment. Tomlin's mis-handling of the star talent is despicable!

I don't think anyone can argue that with an 0-3 start the Steelers have done well to be 6-5 but here is the nagging problem. Play calling on offense has cost us games, how many games we just can't tell but it has been God-awful! Tomlin hired Fuchtner, Tomlin has yet to "help" Fuchtner. Tomlin hired Sarrett as O line coach and the O line has gone from elite to garbage in the blink of an eye. Tomlin stands on the side line while the same BS goes on every quarter of every game!

So.........................what would our record be if Tomlin did his job as "head coach"? 7-4, 8-3.....who knows.

Granted he has kept this team fighting and competing through all this season's upheaval. But isn't that what he gets paid for? There was no guarantee in his contract that stated he wouldn't have to coach through adversity.

And while a winning record is better than not, we aren't the Browns. Finishing above .500 isn't the goal. And it shouldn't be.

That's like being happy you got a date to prom with your second choice. You might look good in your tux, but the girl you like is dancing with someone else. And at the end of the night, some other dude is leaving with the trophy.

TOMLIN the definition of mediocrity. It’s a Shame the Rooney’s and some fans have accepted this.

As everyone is saying so far TOMLIN has had one of his better coaching seasons based on injuries. With that being said let’s see how this thing plays out. 6-10 or 7-9 and we are having a different conversation

Good God, give me a break. They are about to be swept by the Browns and you say Coach of the year? You have to be trying to get a rise out of people.

    Last 5 games:

Cleveland very little chance we win that game they have figured it out.

Arizona on the road west coast don’t like our chances vs an improving team and QB

Buffalo I honestly don’t think we will score a point vs that defense but it could be low scoring and potentially like the Rams game

Jets in NY we could win that game. 50/50 there

    Baltimore LOL

I agree 1000% about Tomlin for coach of the year being a joke but.........have you forgotten who the team is 147 miles to the west northwest of Pittsburgh? You don't fix the dumpster fire in three games especially when the dumpster is full of numerous accelerants, some of which can't be extinguished but simply have to burn on until consumed!

These aren't things you can "figure out":
Mayfield is still a head case.

They still have no O line.

Kitchens is still in way over his head.

Haslem is still the worst owner in the NFL.

    Hey Stone.

Yes, some around here always want to point to Tomlin's "never had a losing season" fact. Great! That then begins the start of a whole other journey, the playoffs, where he has flopped; especially the last number of years. This is totally unacceptable. The talent that he had to work with on the "O" was "Crazy Ridiculous". And to not be able to squeeze out some rings from them is an epic failure IMO. The goal is ultimately rings. Tomlin got one. Great again! However, there should have been a few more considering the talent pool that he had to work with.

I myself really could not believe how "Loaded" we were at one point on "O" with: Brown, Bell, Bryant, Ben, Heath, Vance, Jesse a much improved O-Line. I got spoiled. On the flipside where was the "D" that whole time? Especially, since that is suppose to be his forte? I was on the Tomlin wagon his first five years but now am off. To say that he has "underachieved" with all of the talent that he had to work with is fact.

Tomlin did that with Bell, More than once.. He likes to run his RB's into the ground ( his words not mine ) Years we had Blount AND DeAngelo, And they just sat there as Bell piled up carry after carry...I remember the drug suspension year when DeAngelo was leading the LEAGUE in rushing, and when Bell came back...Got nearly any carries, For what? Why?...Then Bell went into the playoffs F***** up...And we flamed out

THAT should have got him fired... Absolutely no rhyme not reason for it!

Whats more important, not having a losing season or winning super bowls, and I dont consider 8-8 seasons as winning seasons since you dont have more wins than losses.....

Of course it matters. The talent was often on the sidelines and it isn't Tomlin's fault that they couldn't stay healthy.

There are many, "Fire John Harbaugh" articles online from the past 4-5 years. Now he is a genius again. A relatively healthy team and a few great additions will do that for a coach. I am not saying that Tomlin is an all-world coach but the hand he was dealt this season is about as bad as it gets.

Consistently winning and a chance at the playoffs are important to me. Tomlin has been to 2 Super Bowls. We probably should’ve been to a couple more.

Of course I like winning, don't be a dumbass. What I don't like is mediocrity. I dont like 8-8 and celebrating that because it isn't a losing season. I dont like not making the playoffs. I don't like watching a coach consistently underperform with talent, play down to the competition, not make adjustments, and get outcoached by his opponent on a regular basis.

I don't buy the argument that Tomlin should be up for coach of the year, but he will get consideration if the Steelers do make the playoffs.

I thought going into the season that he should be fired if the Steelers missed the playoffs again, perhaps even if they made it and had an early exit. That seems very unlikely now. The Rooney family does not like changing coaches and the injuries gave Tomlin an excuse for this season no matter how it ends. Maybe they consider it if they lose all five remaining games and it gets really ugly, but that doesn't seem likely. The loss of Roethlisberger alone was a huge blow to this team, but that was far from the only significant injury. The defense has adjusted well to the loss of Tuitt, but they could be even better with him. People keep dismissing the loss of Nix, but the run game was significantly better the one game they had him back. Conner's injuries are also a problem, though that is a problem that doesn't seem likely to go away.

I'm not saying mediocrity is acceptable. I wanted Tomlin gone by the end of last season. I'm just saying it seems very unlikely that a change will happen due to the injuries that hit this team.
