I notice you didn't address the meat of the comment? Or maybe, in your opinion, we took our talent deep into the playoffs last year?:smiley1:

So you would prefer having them 1st and goal from our 1? Interesting. I didn't know their punter can pin point a punt to be precisely on our 1 yard line every time. That is one hell of a punter.

I’m surprised too because if you ask some people around here ,now that Switzer is gone there’s nobody left on the team that can simply field a punt (sarcasm off)

I just though it was an unnecessary risk at that point of the game. I'd just tell the punt returner to keep away from the ball and let it go into the end zone or wherever and go block their gunner from downing the ball close to the end zone. But that is just me.Risk vs reward doesn't add up for me.

I don’t think they see fielding a punt as the risk you or I may see it as. They are supposed to be professionals and that’s part of their job they practice every day. While chances are slim the punter nails one out on the 1 or 2 yd line there is that risk as well which can lead to all kinds of subsequent disasters, so close to your own end zone.
That’s how I think their thought process is.

Finally playing to win; instead of not to lose. I liked the call

    Coach of the year?
Obviously, I'm not going to paint with a broad brush, it is what it is, and the standard is the standard. Such is life this time of the year in the National Football League. Obviously, his performance isn't perfect by any means, but

you must admit, he's done a pretty good job with what he has this year.

But here's the point. It was made earlier but you dismissed it. If we let it go and it gets downed inside the 5, which is 50-50, it takes away the victory kneel down and now we have to risk a snap which could be fumbled, a handoff which could be fumbled, and a run which could be fumbled.

I don't think it was "they" I think it was a rookie QB not thinking fast enough on his feet.

It's a moot point, Shanahan is going to win coach of the year, the 49ers were 4-12 last year now they will probably be the #1 seed in the NFC.

If he gets us into the playoffs and actually win a post season game then he should be given consideration given the cards he’s been dealt this year.

If he get us to the playoffs and wins one game, that will make up for going one and done in 2014....maybe. That leaves 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 to go and they will take way more than that!

Usually 10 yards & in they let it go, anything past the ten they field. Must be some analytic decision on field position.

I would have preferred running the ball there. It was 3rd and 5 and Snell was gutting them for 5 or 6 yards a run by then. I think he might have ran for the first down.

Yeah, if we make the playoffs with this team that is being held together by duct tape and chicken wire then this will be the Steelers most successful season since they won the Superbowl over the Cards. I don't care if we lose the first game 57-0, the season would be a raging success. Half of our offense are 3rd and 4th string guys and other teams practice squad cast offs.
PS. Maybe I should have said the team is being held together by Duck tape and Duck wire.

Coach of the year probably goes to Shanahan. Maybe we give Tomlin a overachievement award. He can put it next to his underachievement trophies. If there’s room....:roflmao:

Every year there were really good reasons for their struggles in the playoffs. Tell me the year they should have gone deep and didn't? The teams were decimated by the end most years.

I agree but they lost Jimmy G. last year and he is back this season. So Tomlin lost Ben R. this year and when Ben comes back strong and we go 12-4 in 2020 Mike will be coach of the year. Sounds nice to me.

You mean Mike? 'Cause I don't believe Kyle will be available for quite a few years.

Mike wasn't to bad until he landed in Washington. Kyle seems better than his dad.

blow out vs Jax was inexcusable he should have been fired immediately after that game. I believe Jax scored 10 pts at home vs Buffalo the wild card game before. That was the moment I personally realized we would never win another SB with little Mikey
