:this!: I admit that I wondered allowed about DL after the first few games last season when opposing players said they new what was coming but after those early struggles my faith was renewed in him. The defense is never the problem for this team. They put us in position to win week in and week out.

I agree with the sentiment that says great defenses get off the field. Ultimately THAT is what makes a great d for me. Limit the other team's offensive opportunities as much as is humanly possible. I mean would you rather be the d that leads in picks or the d that leads in 3 and outs? Last year the Bears were an INT machine and they didn't make the playoffs. Don't get me wrong though! I WANT the d to score but ultimately it is the offense's job to do so. I miss the turnovers as a fan because they're exciting. I don't want to downplay their importance because usually the team that wins the turnover battle wins the game but the offense is just as responsible to take care of the football as the defense is to try and get the football back.

Cowher never had three straight losing seasons. 1998, 1999, 2003. That was all. He did miss the playoffs three straight seasons.

Over the years, through it all, even when our Defense is Pittsburgh bad, they're good.

Thank all that is holy that we have DL and lobby to keep him for as long as he can do it.

Stick to your guns Lovembig, there is nothing wrong
with wanting to see good football. Mike Tomlin,Todd Haley I am not sure they are the answer for the PGH Steelers. This will be a KEY year for both. Just remember you aren't dealing with Dan Rooney.LOL. I think the players have tuned both of them out!

There was - think their name was cardigansweater - used to campaign rigorously on the old MB to put Maddox back in, that Ben wasn't the answer, etc.

Not sure what happened to that guy, but he seemed to go quiet after a year or two... for some reason...

I was the same. For the first two weeks it was all about the offense. For most of the rest of the season it was business as usual - solid D, weak O.

I'm as disgruntled by our performances this preseason as anyone (well, maybe not numbah, but he was on a different level to anyone in terms of disgruntlement the other day). But it's clear that there is no "one" problem at work here.

It's more like a number of things - some small, some bigger, but none big enough to be the entire problem - that added together make 8-8. Injuries. Conditioning. Execution. In-game Adjustments. And of course, just plain luck.

I know people will argue that it "all goes back to the Head Coach", but while some of it does, other parts don't. For a superbowl team, you need every cog to be turning in the right way, and some of those cogs are not down to the HC.

You need to get off the Kool aid kick!
Anyone who's watched the preseason or last season knows the team has some issues to iron out. So what is all the *****ing about it going to do? I have no real idea how the season is going to go, but I'm not going to get on here daily and moan and grown about how bad the Steelers suck.

So lets say they are destined for a 5-11 season, Now what? You a supporter or will we see you whe the start wining again?

Claiming that everyone else that doesn't agree with you is drinking kool aid doesn't make you a realist, just a pessimist.

I remember him. I think he got exposed for the troll that he actually was.

I think he even had a beef with the Pimp Dylan thread (aka Pimply Dan).

I do not think Cohwer ever had 3 loosing seasons in a row. He had 2 in a row in 98 (7-9) and 99 (6-10), then turned it around again in 2000 at 9-7.

Could not use Dilfer as an example those years, as it was before that happened.

BTW, The Steelers have never had a loosing season with Ben as the QB (8-8 in 2006 and 2012).

Cowhers teams were physical no matter the record, different era since NFL is taking physical out of the game.

To some earlier comments, the point I usually try to make was the Steelers now have become soft, and when you look at it they have had a serious decline in talent. But most of the board is positive- they think the Steelers are very talented.... that is where the issue is. So for the rest of the week I jumped on the lifes good board. Dontt worry about me when the Steelers are on the ropes- I have seen many a day with that. You worry about you being here and maybe becoming honest with the facts, you know the glass half empty.....

2 new key coaches on offense trying to adjust to a second year OC that is still putting the offense in for the change in players and scheme. why wouldn't they look like world beaters at this point? hmmmm?:hmmm:

say what you will about the turn overs, but the offense gave tons of the golden nugget away last year. the team probably would have been on the plus side. not to mention the short fields the D always had to defend.

the D has 6 turnovers in two games this year. the O gave back two and a TD in the last one and a safety in the first one. that's 9 points we have given the other team and the ball back. then 3 points on a blocked punt.

ben needs kicked right in the arse. how many of these little dump passes do we have to watch bad things happen with?

I think since Tomlin has yet to have a losing season. He is safe. But, in the eyes of us fans if you don't win the Super Bowl year in and year out, it's a losing season regardless, and their must be blood. So let's chill guys, look at the Bengals, Marvin Lewis was coaching terrible teams year in and year out, then they finally get a couple players and he has lead them to back to back playoff appreances. I was one of those people that kept saying how does Marvin Lewis still get to keep his job the Bengals are terrible. But, it's usually easier to fire a guy and staff of 8 coaches, then it is a team of 53 players.

    There's that too.

Why? Because you say so? The Bus seems to think we are, is he drinking kool aid too? The difference with him though is he feels we will need a year or two for that talent to develop, he thinks we'll have a very good team then. Until then, we have 2 things that give us a chance against any team, Ben and Dick LeBeau, because despite what anyone says, Ben is one of the best QB's in the league and our defense gives us an opportunity to win every game.

The thing that will determine if we are a playoff team or an 8-8 team this year is the O-line, they get it together, we'll make the playoffs, if they don't, this place will suck to be around.
