I was all for Rudolf being kept and developed as Wilson imho is over or close to over the hill and Fields imho does not have the football smarts to be a good starting q.b.......fell free to opine or criticize .

This reminds me, where is STD these days? He was pimping for Wilson like he's related to him.

Titans talent pool on offense is worse than Steelers. Titans OL and skill players are bottom 5. Mahomes and Allen would struggle on that team.

I was also enamored with Rudolph last year. This year he showed why he will never be a QB1.

S.T.D. Crawled back into his hole. He doesn’t want to face this music however he did say he would bet me on them winning this first game. Anybody think he would pay up??

We aren’t setting the world on fire either.

I believe Moore has given up more sacks than any other LT in the league. Jones hasn’t progressed like we hoped.

Outside of 3 games, our leading rusher has had 60 or 70 yards or less.

Pickens is our lone bright spot at WR. The problem with him is which version shows up on Sunday.

I never did understand the fascination with Rudolph.

A lot of us got fired up about him when we had to win 3 straight to make Playoffs in 2023 and he was our guy. Thankfully the Steelers didn't go all in on him. He was a fan favorite for that short time.

I agree. How many years are you supposed to let a guy develop, and behind how many different QBs? I had hopes for him when we got him. Maybe getting whacked with his own helmet had something to do with his lack of development?

It’s very unlikely of him to not chime in daily. It’s been a while now. Hopefully he is just taking a break and nothing more.

Rudolph is nothing more than a back up in this league and probably will be his entire career. He’s not horrible. He’s just not starter material. Steelers need to go after a future #1 QB. Sure would have been nice to land Baker Mayfield. Gulp.:hmmm:

it's a team game. every part has to be clicking for it to work properly, coaches included. they are not. run, run, pass, punt won't get it done. contain lemar and we will have a shot. don't let andrews kill us. stop the run. that's a lot to ask but we can do it. turnovers in our favor will be huge. use our TE's in the passing game. turn this around on them. throw to pickens, throw to williams, throw to muth, throw to washington, throw to warren, throw to najee, throw to skowranek. that simple. make them chase these guys all over the field. get friggin creative.

I was fired up about him as a bona fide #2 QB, and he may still have that ability if he has enough around him. Hard to gauge his ability in Tennessee.

So, lack of talent around him is why he throws so many INTs? If that's the case, we'd be better off with the Turnover Machine..err.. I mean Winston. At least then we'd get a 400 yard/3 TD performance every now and then (interspersed with 400 yard/5 INT/2 P6 performances).

Rudolph would stay in the pocket and climb it. he didn't bail at first blush. He hit some good passes to DJ and Pickens.

Is he taking the Steelers and the 10 points? Or is he actually taking the Steelers to win the game outright? If it's the latter he better not have a whole lot of money riding on the Steelers to win the game.

All season long, this has been touted as one of the big reasons that Mike Tomlin is deserving of coach of the year. They make some great big deal out of the fact that he change quarterbacks in the middle of the season. Now we're at the end of the season. In hindsight, Fields was 4 and 2, and Wilson ended up being 6 and 5.

I realize that the teams played were not the same and Wilson had that stretch of nightmare teams at the end of the season. But, it doesn't look quite as savant like decision-making by Tomlin when you compare records between the two quarterbacks. I do think that Fields brought more energy to the offense. There was some initial excitement with Wilson, but I believe that faded rather quickly and it became a ho hum offense.

As for Rudolph, over the years he has had several chances to be the guy. Remember that he filled in for Big Ben for a good stretch of it in one season due to an injury on Ben. Rudolph has never shown anything that made me think he can be the guy. I think he was a solid backup, but I also think that that's his ceiling with the Steelers.

Thank you for the reminder of why you can't accurately judge quarterbacks on record alone. Teams win games, not quarterbacks. The defense was playing much better early in the season. The Steelers went 4-2 with Fields against a weak part of the schedule. They got the Cowboys without Parsons and still managed to lose. They got the Broncos in Nix's second career start. They got the Chargers with a hobbled Herbert. They went 6-5 with Wilson, but most of that was the tougher part of the schedule, including two games against the Ravens and the losses to the Eagles and Chiefs, arguably the two best teams in the league.

I know this wasn't you, but I can't believe anybody was still talking about developing Rudolph. The guy is 29 years old. This is his sixth year in the NFL. He is what he is, a good backup and a below-average starter.

I won't argue that, you also cannot argue with the w/l record and give aways over his career. One can argue the situation in Chicago sucked and that would be understandable. You can also argue the potential upside for Fields is still there, but the 5th year option was too much to guarantee to see that upside, as is paying an elaborate amount to extend him to so if he truly can develop. I do not think you should offer 3 million and hope he signs, he will get some offer(s), the decision has to be how much for how long, and will the commitment be there in coaching and building around him. A decision will be and actually has to be made, we have no one signed and the FA market is pretty bare.

Mason’s a good guy and a quality backup. But he’s not starting QB caliber
