Brady extended. Saves the Bucs 19 Mil this year. Old out of shape Ben is going to count for more. I can't believe the Steelers keep the out of shape bum with a trashed elbow around for another year. Meanwhile, a QB that's 4-5 years older, who actually stays in shape, studies film, and Wins SBs is making less.

But its also why he's better and has had a better career than Ben. Better leader, teamate, player, etc.. Ben is more talented and could've been better if he had the mindset of brady.

Let's just remember that we have been kicking this can down the line for years. Even if Ben retires this year, his cap hit would still have higher than Brady's. The FO negotiated the best deal given the situation.

He could have. Brady isn't talented. But he works harder and studies the game more than anyone. I mean he repeatedly wants to continue to play with nothing else to prove instead of relaxing at home, rich, with a beautiful model wife like Giselle. They probably will have to take him off the field in a stretcher. If Ben had this dedication he'd be even greater than he was.

I mean they cheated in New England but he went to another franchise, changed the entire culture on the fly, and help lead them to the superbowl. It wasn't jsut cheating and all that other stuff for why they were successful.

They also added 27 other players including Brady, that wasn't on that team the year before.

Unless he found a way to cheat in Tampa, too. ;)

Boo Frickin Hoo! Go be a bandwagon Brady fan. Maybe you could get the Rooney's on speed dial and vent your frustrations. Ben will be here one more season and he is the best option for this club right now. The numbers are what they are. Brady's wife makes more than he does. I doubt he really cares if he plays just to make a ton of money.

I just had a look at their depth chart, the only starters on offence / defence listed that weren’t drafted by the Bucs are Suh, JPP, Barrett & Jensen, all except Suh were there before Brady. Gronk, AB & Fournette all played a role, particularly in the playoffs but weren’t starters or major contributors during the season.

I don’t know who these 27 are or what they were doing but they weren’t a big factor in their winning season as far as I can see. Presumably the 27 includes draft picks and roster bubble guys that came and went during the season? That kind of roster churn wouldn’t be that unusual if it does.

    Just what I read.
I honestly don't know who they were....besides the Big names. It said something like....27 different players on the Roster that weren't on last year...or some such.
I believe I actually put up a(one off my actual successful) link 2 it in a argument back in the day.

Unreal, guy takes a pay cut and still gets shat on. Brady has never taken a pay cut, it’s rare, kudos to Ben.

Want to be mad at someone, be mad at the Steelers if you don’t like Ben being back.

Brady’s deal is virtually the exact same thing that Ben did, without the actual pay cut. I dont get the issue or why Ben is being brought in to it?

Brady and Mahomes are doing what Steelers players have done for years and are being lauded for it LOL.

I think people just want Ben gone. I did too to be fair, but trying to use Brady’s restructure as a stick to beat Ben with is stretching it a bit.

Mahomes is doing what? Patrick signed a $500,000,000 contract. Wait til his club tries to crunch those numbers into the salary cap later down the road. He will be playing with a ton of cut players who were FA's at one time coming back for near league minimum. It will be a patchwork organization that will rely heavily on his lonesome talent alone.

I'm neutral on TB vs Ben but I wonder if the end result of the 2020 NFL season would have been the same without the virus? With all of the teams dealing with the same issues, no preseason, etc, would things been different under normal circumstances? There is no right or wrong answer but just wondering how the hail Tampa got to where they did out of nowhere.

Not sure why the name of TB is allowed to pollute this forum to begin with. I could go all off season without hearing that name and be perfectly happy. But that is just me.

It really won’t. The deal is so heavily backloaded that it gives them great flexibility right now, Daks deal for example is far less team friendly, as is Watsons.

Mahomes deal doesn’t really start to get expensive until 2025, at which point the salary cap will be higher and they can just re-do itl to suit wherever they are at then.

The $500m was just a headline, Mahomes did the team a solid with that contract structure to allow them to put a team around him. Where it might get tricky for the Chiefs is if they start doing annual restructures. The bill always comes due eventually, as the Steelers are discovering right now.

They did what the cowboy did and it's a cap loophole. You make the last years of the deal voidable so you dotn end up paying the cap hits you spread out in the end and they redo a deal.

911? Oh man are we really still going with that theory that they let New England win because Murica?

Take Mason Rudolph. Yeah he sucks in comparison to Ben, but he studies game film and practices harder (according to reports). It would be nice to have a starting QB who does that. Not really relevant to your point I guess but at least you can start building something rather than just let Ben be Ben. Which hasn't worked for almost a decade now.

I just think teams have finally figured it out and realize it's ridiculous to pay these QBs these ridiculous contracts. I've said this before in another post...no QB who hasnt won a SB should be making more than Brady period and even those that have it's absolutely stupid to be offering them more than 30.

The best thing the Cowboys did the last couple of seasons was telling Dak Prescott no. These morons out here passing out these high contracts and running up the franchise tag number in the process. Dak made over 31 million on the franchise tag....he should have ran with that number.

I still dont get how Ben was in the black for 41 unless it included an accrued amount (from restructuring) that got it up to that point??? Either way you cant build around a QB that's making 41 mil.
