Some guys are just better coordinators than head coaches in my opinion. Examples would be: Wade Phillips, Chan Gailey, Romeo Crennel, Steve Spagnolu, etc. I don't think that Todd Hailey would be a better head coach than being a coordinator (see KC), HOWEVER with that being said and my opinion, I hope he does leave. I may be more in the minority on this one, but I just don't think he doesn't have a very creative mindset for playcalling. I realize and it's been beat to death, that he was shorthanded with injuries to the OL, WR's, RB's and to Ben and only been here one year, but he's just not a good enough fit. Who knows, maybe no one is with Ben and his "ways" of approaching the offseason, lack of film study and preparation during the week, BUT I still wouldn't mind for Hailey to leave. Replacements???? Norv T just might be a better coordinator than HC. Remember his success as OC in Dallas with Aikman? I know there are other guys out there that could be very good OC's and better than Hailey but this is all mute if Hailey doesn't leave. JMHO!

I might have to agree with you Jimmy Allen, Chan might not be
HC material but he was an entertaining OC for the Steelers. atleast they
were exciting to watch back then. the Steelers are boring to watch both
offensivley and defensivley and have been for more years than I care
to think about. I hope this changes? We need to re energize the fan base.

I thought we were exciting with Whiz... Look at Ben's first two years and the first SB in a very long time and a bad O-line. I would take him back in a heat beat. I know he wouldn't do it and Ben would be even more of a ***** with him than he was Haley, but it's my opinion non the less...

If we do lose Haley, I'd be happy to have Whiz back. But Whiz working for Tomlin...? Not sure that'll happen in the next ten thousand years.

Anybody but K. Wilson. Do you really think he would go out on a limb to try and control Ben. He'll hitch his wagon to Ben,ride or die with his first OC gig. We'll be right back where we started . I wish we could put a finger on where it all went wrong. Was it Bens injury? If Haley does leave we really need to find a highly experienced replacement, maybe even with playing experience. We need someone Ben thinks highly of and will listen to. I don't really like that we have to placate Ben ,but we need to find a happy medium.

Well, here's the thing- really with any of these candidates- would they rather not work with Tomlin/not work as an OC or both - or would they rather be unemployed?

Why do fired coaches/coordinators wind up all sorts of places? Easy- they need jobs.

I disagree about them having a bad OL with Whiz here. The 2005 team had no less than 3 starters who had been Pro Bowlers- Faneca, Hartings and Marvel Smith. In fact, it was one of the strong points of that team, IMHO. Now, the 2008 team, under Arians- had in my opinion not only the worse OL to ever win a Super Bowl, but perhaps the worst OL the team has had since I started watching then in 1972.

Correct Jimmy and that's exactly what I was gonna say. Whiz's line was MUCH better than this crap we've endured since 07.

This is also correct. Whiz wanted the Steelers job and didn't get it and I don't think he's gonna come and play second fiddle to the guy he lost it to.

Exactly Jack! Exactly! The first 9 weeks of this season our offense was doing very well. I honestly wonder if people didn't start watching this season until the KC game or something. Good grief dude Haley put together a great plan against the giants and the bungles in the 1st game. Ben has not been right since he came back and that's just a fact. Also people wanna talk about the red zone deficiencies and then pound the "bring back Wallace" stuff and forget how many drops we've endured this year. Those things are drive killers. Haley's offense kept Manning on the bench in Denver for almost the whole 3rd quarter and it was the DEFENSE that gave up a quick td when they got the ball back. We put up 31 against Oakland and it was the DEFENSE that gave up 34. Also if the Rooney's brought Haley here to run the ball then he HAS to run the ball. He is well rounded enough that he can take it or leave it. In AZ they were the last in the league in rushing but had the top rated passing offense. Maybe now that the Rooney's have seen that you can't run behind this line when it stays hurt they will tell him to open up the play book. People act like Haley is dumber than BA. He is NOT. Did Bill Belichik call BA a "GENIUS"??? When BA was here we won in SPITE of him! Think of why Ben was running for his life. It was because plays took SO long to develop that Ben had to scramble to buy time. HOW is that a sensible way to run an offense? How many busted plays did we have under BA? Even the Super Bowl winning td didn't run as designed. Luck has been throwing picks like crazy this year! Listen people THE ROONEY'S WANTED RID OF BA!!! THE ROONEY'S!!! HOW can people act like he was so awesome? I think the Rooney's have a pretty good eye for awesome. Wouldn't you say? Haley was brought here to do something and the Rooney's will give him time to do it. I hope he stays and I hope he gets in Ben's face which is something BA would NEVER do and THAT is why Ben wanted him here. He let him do what he wanted to and Haley put the reigns on him. Good for Haley. This dang team has too many chiefs and not enough indians! As a matter of fact this whole LEAGUE does!

we were not that good in those first 9 games. you guys act like we had some type of high powered offense then. NOT!!!!

i agree jimmy and was going to say the same thing. gailey was a good OC. i wouldn't mind him back. i sure don't want whiz. i sure don't want wilson. we have a much better offense to work with then gailey had in buffalo. chan left here because we were good and he was in high demand. same as our DC at the time, who is running GB's right now or DLB may not even be here.

If Haley goes, I will be in shock, cause I still don't get how he deserves a HC job, but if he does the order should be-

    1. Nov Turner
    2. Chan Gaily
    3. Mike Milarky if he get's fired from jax

    Please no Kirby Wison

I don't want Wilson either because given that he was our RB coach and they can't hold the ball I don't want him coordinating our offense. Also as far as the first nine games was Ben having a career year? Yes or no. Were we second in the league for TOP? Yes or no? Did Redman AND Dwyer each have 100 yard games? Yes or No. Did we lead the league in 3rd down conversion? Yes or no. Did Todd Haley or BA design THAT offense? Are all of these things listed positive or negative? Is it Todd Haley's fault that AB fumbled away the game in Oakland? Is it Todd Haley's fault that AB fumbled away the game in Dallas? Take away AB's fumble in that game and we win. Is it Todd Haley's fault that EVERY back fumbled in the browns game? Todd Haley is not perfect and there are some kinks that need to be worked out in his scheme. Predictability and lack of play action are a couple. However to suggest that Haley is a downgrade from BA is borderline retarded.

did anyone mention BA? ben made those 3rd down conversions mostly out of sheer will. you cannot say this offense ran smooth in those first 9 games. we were overjoyed to have a 100 yards rushing as a team this year. it didn't happen very often either. we hit 4 teams when everyone in the league was beating them. we struggled against crap teams. BA however did go 12-4 the last two years here. we were supposed to be overjoyed with 6-3 though. please.

I can't imagine he would pass up a chance to be a HC, especially the way his first stint ended with KC but he still hasn't agreed to the interview.

Sometimes getting that shot is all it takes to realize you don't want that sort of responsibility. I would suspect that if his family is just getting settled in PA that it will weigh heavy in any decision to move across the country at this point. Sometimes there are more motivating factors than money and prestige, me personally I'd like to see what he does in year two but then again I wanted to see what he could do with out Pioli and his crazy New England mind tricks in KC as well.

So why did the Rooney's not renew his contract? Because it's as I said. We won in SPITE of him.

Naa, thats not true, Rooneys just had a different idea of how the offense should be run. It's pretty clear after what BA did with the Colts that he doesn't suck as bad as people think he does.

Yeah but at this point I don't know if it is BA or if it is Andrew Luck. I will say this we may never know just what BA is really like because the open positions that he has been mentioned for all have QB's that want to throw the ball, ALOT so I don't know. If he gets a head coaching job somewhere I would be interested to see how he does. Then maybe I will reevaluate my thoughts on his job performance. As it stands I think BA does his job the best when he does nothing at all.

Rumor has it that the Eagles want to talk to him. I'm curious how he would do with that team that just completly quit on Andy Reid.

The guy gets thrust into a head coaching position, something he has never done on a pro level and you guys want to credit their success to a rookie QB? Lucks good but he doesn't walk on water. Good teams have good players on it, you can say the same about any coach who has success then, do all teams win in spite of their coach? Why does BA have to take a bunch of scrubs to a title game before he is given any credit? I thought there were certain things about BA's game calling that were holding us back, still do but I never believed him to be as bad as everyone makes him out to be.
