If this is going to happen I hope it happens sooner rather then later so the Steelers have a bigger pool to pick from. I'd take Norv in a heartbeat, I wanted him here last year but he was still with SD of course.

I highly doubt it's gonna happen because TTF mentioned that Haley was building a house in PA. My buddy is a die hard Chargers fan and said that he thinks Norv will actually get a GM job so who knows if Norv would even be interested in an oc position again anyway ya know? But I like him too. He's a good OC and just an ok HC. My buddy is dying though at the thought that BA might be the guy to wind up in SD. He can't stand him either. I've taught him well. LOL.

it wouldnt hurt my feelings if he left. im not going to put all the blame on Haley, but i dont think he calls a very good game. he never seemed to grasp the talent or lack of talent he had and he would call some of the worst plays at the worst time. kind of like calling a revers when your inside your own 10 like he did on Sunday.

I'd hate to see Haley leave but if he's offered a head coaching opportunity I couldn't blame him. If he does leave I hope we look beyond Kirby Wilson for his replacement. Wilson is a Tomlin favorite but I'm not sure he's the best fit for the OC role in Pittsburgh.

Yeah I doubt that the Rooney's would let him use Kirby Wilson. But if Ben is gonna be a crybaby I wouldn't hold it against Haley for going. I wouldn't wanna work with a crybaby either.

If he gets offered a HC position a house in PA is not going to keep him from taking the job, especially with the money these guys make. I haven't heard that about Norv but as Jack has pointed out, Tomlin wanted Kirby last year so will probably push for him again now that he is healthy. Hue Jackson is another guy I'd like to give a shot too. What sucks the most is that if Haley does leave, we are back to square one and sitting through another season of growing pains.

Ben needs to make a New Year's resolution to stop the passive-aggressive behavior and start studying more film and put more time in preparing for the next opponent.

Well apparently the Rooney's didn't want him or they would've kept BA for one more year and then let him go at the end of this year. Wouldn't you think?

Yeah but that would be more of a REVOLUTION than a RESOLUTION!

It's not that the Rooney's didn't want him, it's that Kirby nearly died in a fire and wasn't available for the job.

*edit* Should clarify that I mean they had no idea what kind of recovery Kirby would have.

Let Haley go and let Ben be the OC. Then he couldnt complain about the play calling and run what he wants. :hmmm:

It's hard for me to believe any article he writes lately. If Haley was the top candidate, why wouldn't he be on the list of interviews? The Cardinals announced today that they'll be interviewing Ray Horton, Andy Reid and Mike McCoy. The Broncos granted the Cardinals permission to interview McCoy today.

I knew what you meant. I wonder though if the Rooney's would let Tomlin have him though if Haley did leave?

NEWS FLASH - Todd Haley isnt a hot commodity. he had a losing record as a head coach in 3 years with the Chiefs. he was the o cordinator 1 year with the Cards. that happened to be the year they went to the super bowl, but that was it.

this guy hasnt done much and i dont see anyone knocking down the doors at Heinz to get him. we are stuck with him and lets all just hope that he can come up with a better game plan and Ben buys into it.

I've never been on the Haley bandwagon - too many people willing to knight him before he had done a single thing, simply because he wasn't BA - but I think the season was up and down with playcalling. It's not fair to lump this on him 100% - injuries were a factor, and he seemed to be setting up a nice long-haul strategy early in the season (playing with what opponents would be expecting from the tape of the previous games). Then the injuries hit and we seemed to lose a whole lot of strategy.

Latterly, the playcalling was a little unjustified, though. Going empty backfield on 3rd and 2 still baffles me. Not using Will Johnson as much as possible still baffles me. I think, like you say, Haley will be here next season, as it's not like people are high on him around the league like they are, say, Tomlin. But hopefully next season his longer-term strategy will become apparent. And I hope he gets a little more imaginative with the talent we have.

TH was asked about the Cardinals spot when the rumors began that Whis was about to be let go. He said "I'm where I want to be". We had that posted somewhere on this MB. 'Course that was days ago and things change momentarily in this business.

He's originally from Upper St Clair, just south of Pittsburgh. So I doubt building a house where he is originally from would keep him from taking a HC job. That being said, Fox News in their sports segment this AM said that Andy Reed was expected to go to Arz...for whatever that's worth.

:this!: That article was written on Dec 18, the offense got worse after that. I still don't get what Haley has done to deserve even getting an interview for a head coaching job. I will bet he gets no interviews for any of the opening head coaching jobs!

I don't think you can put much stock in that. It would be beyond stupid to say anything else during the season.

Lol maybe a good idea... Ben orchestrated much of the plays when BA was here..Ben knew of Haleys disposition prior to coming in. Obviously Ben didn't want BA to leave..TH /Randy was working with Ben on his mechanics ref. ball release but Ben fell back to his "crap shoot plays"..you'll find these two have more hate and discontent than meets the eye. When TH & Ben are interviewed i can smell the sugar being coated on their answers ref. the relationship .. I don't blame TH going after a HC job if offered. So many injuries on this L with Bens style players have to block twiced as long and protection breaks down. I'm sure this drives Kugler nutts. With Ben it is what it is...same ole song & dance.

Kirby wouldn't be my first choice but I sure hope the Rooney's don't interfere again with who Tomlin has on his staff. It's really bad to undermine your HC and they have already done that once. All HC pick their own personnel, if you don't trust Tomlin then fire him but don't keep picking his staff for him.

Todd Haley, I believe, is an exceptional OC. He had great success with a QB in Arizona that was willing to LISTEN and EXECUTE the gameplan and a receiver who is one of the most talented yet humble and understated players in the league. In Pittsburgh he had Mr. Sandlot who thinks film study and preparation is overrated and a diva WR who already believes he's arrived and that was disrespected by the Steelers' $50 million pathetic offer. Hmmm? Wonder why he had more success in AZ??? :hmmm:

Not saying Haley is free of blame here but it sure helps when the key players buy into the offense.
