TJ Watt

So a little positivity. I read today that TJ became only the Ninth NFL LB to total 20 sacks in his first two seasons since the stat became official in 1982. Not too shabby considering he has zero help on the other edge.

Yeah don't hear too many people complaining about him disappearing any more. I guess we won't hear the comparison to Dupree anymore when Dupree is getting rightfully trashed.

 

Been saying it for a while now - dude is a bonafide stud. Crazy thing is it was just a couple of weeks ago (when he had 18 sacks over his 1st 2 seasons) that the "he disappears" comments were made.

IMO, OLB should be our top priority (I know, we aren't, since Dupree is here for at least another season). That would give us the ideal bookend, make TJ shine even more, and give some relief to the overworked secondary.

 

Why people thought he was a reach is something I will never know. If he was capable of receiving a Second Team All American and First Team All B1G Ten Award in essentially his first ever season playing defense in college and much less Outside Linebacker, why he could not explode to the next level is something I have not the foggiest.


He was a natural then and is, in my opinion, a top five 3-4 Outside Linebacker in the league currently. He was snubbed from the Pro Bowl because... reasons. If he does not receive, at the absolute worst, a Second Team All Pro nomination, that is a travesty in itself.

 

He probably wont since the all pro team includes both 3-4 and 4-3 lbs as one position. Wagner, mack, darrius Leonard, Jaylen Smith, vander each, cj mosley.

 

TJ to pro bowl. Thankfully. It was an absolute joke he wasn’t there in front of Clowney this year anyway. Good for him. Steelers need about a dozen more like TJ and we will be great again.

 

$5 says you won’t hear him crying when it’s time to renew his contract.

 

And Joey Porter said he had no pass rush skills or moves lol

Please, Please for the love of our team dump Alvin and get someone opposite Watt that is his equal. Wasting any more salary cap space on the Dud would be mindless.

It isn’t as if Watt didn’t have the numbers to get himself to the Pro Bowl anyway. He had a career year in both sacks (13), tackles (68) and forced fumbles (6).

This isn’t the first honor Watt has received this season, as he was also named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Weeks 1 and 5 of the 2018 season.
