Screw the agents. Teams should be doing business the way the Steelers, Bengals and Packers do. If you all do it, the players have no where else to turn to.

Well idk if you want to be like the Bengals. I get what you're saying, but in a league where Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder exist you know that's never gonna happen. Steelers probably need to adapt here or say goodbye to future superstars sticking around.

Archaic is a great way to describe many of the things this organization does, not just player contracts.

Ben will be playing hurt until he can't. He can suck it up more than most also. More ways then one.

Jones looked impressive, Ingram possibly, Schobert, and i think Bush is ready to break out, mac daddyo might not agree on the last one.

Not saying what will happen, I’m saying what they should do if they were smart. They have all the control here. You as fan should want it too.

If he holds out and plays the last 6 games and than doesn’t sign the tag. Pitt likely wouldn’t tag him twice and he’d guarantee his free agency. You showing you will cave and show up encourages the team to tag you. Make them really thinks bout the possibility of you not playing and you holding a huge chunk of their cap hostage. He doesn’t want to chance things. I forgot about bud Dupree. He still got 30 million fully guaranteed but he probably would have gotten 50 plus had he not risked it and played On a tag and tore his acl.

How long do you need them to stick around really? I mean they have had Watt for 5 years, 6 if you tag him. He'll be 27 this year, 28 next year. You probably already took his best years athletically. No reason to have a 30+ year old linebacker making almost 30 million per.

Reports are that a deal has been agreed to by both parties making TJ the highest paid defensive player in the league.

Where are they reporting it? Twitter seems awash with Butler giving his awe shucks about how much Watt will play Sunday.

I also think that eventually the Steelers are going to have to get with the rest of the NFL on guaranteed money. I am not sure now is when it happens but eventually it will or they will start losing their best players.

    jamir jones for one.

    delontae scott. https://www.steelers.com/team/players-roster/delontae-scott/

    derek tuszka. https://www.steelers.com/team/players-roster/derrek-tuszka/

all three were quite good in college at what they did. 47.5 sacks between scott and tuszka. jones showed in preseason there is something to build on.

but i know your thinking, unless they are first round picks they are just scrubs, even though it's been proven to you time after time your wrong, so go ahead i'm waiting for this response. :sleepy::cool:

Ben held up for 16 games last season coming off of elbow surgery, I'm not worried about him getting injured.

They made AB the highest paid WR at the time, and offered LeVeon a 70 million contract.

I saw a story that by 2023/24 each team will get at least $400 million a year from the new tv deal, I doubt the Rooney's are counting their pennies.

How much did they give him guaranteed? Remember that's what these players are after now. That higher paid yearly salary doesn't cut it anymore.

Highest paid doesn't mean paid the most overall. That's the spin that Steelers will put on it. Not saying I feel bad for Watt in the slightest but it bears repeating where the organization is putting themselves at a disadvantage.
