Every team gets over 300 million a year from the tv contracts.

I started a thread on trading TJ a few months back and was roasted by the forum. We sure could use some extra 1st round picks to get a franchise Qb.

Explain “day of reckoning”. If player salaries were taking an ever increasing % of revenue, you might be right. But they aren’t. The owners and players have negotiated the % that goes to the players. If revenue goes up, so does the player salaries. If revenues crash, like they did in 2020, the players get less. They players cut is set. If Player A he’s a big contract, that means Player B doesn’t. But the total to the players is set, by revenue.

Is our goal to win games or is it to have the most free cap money? Because TJ helps win games.

I under estimate the power of those TV contracts.

Call me old school but these guys who sign contracts and then refuse to play them out, I have a hard time having sympathy for. I respect the Steelers way of doing business and not guaranteeing money after the first year which sounds like the hold up here. These contracts are out of hand. I love Watt and what he brings to the team but he has a contract to play out. This is no different than the Bell situation in my eyes. Slap the tag on him.

but it's not distributed equally. a small percentage of the players make most of the revenue. about 2 months ago there was a piece about how each team has about 3 guys that take the lions share of the money and the rest fight over the remaining crumbs, so to speak. the small percentage of those higher paid guys salaries keep increasing and the others do go up but not like the chosen few. even if they decline later in their contracts. incentive based salaries would be a good thing but they will never go for it. they do to an extent but not truly. i'd like to see a base pay and have it adjust for performance of the stars, but not hugely, and then if you do well you get extra pay on said performance. i know a pipe dream.

But so what? Surely you don’t want Tj and Robert Spillane to have similar salaries. If the owners and players are ok with the revenue split. And the players and are ok with how the money is split amongst their fellow NFLPA brothers. Who am I to to complain. If the players want their share divided differently, they can say so at contract time. Bet they won’t.

if the beef is that paying a few too much hurts your favorite teams competitiveness, ok maybe so. But that’s the teams choice as to how they manage your dollars. Smart teams will spent wisely, dumb teams won’t.

He'd be more trade-able after signing his next deal, no? The Steelers would be on the hook for the upfront money, his new team would pay the yearly salary and roster bonuses. Any team trading for him now will have to eventually pay him all of it.

And certainly not distributed equally by position. Not surprising, but 15 of the top 20 salaries are QBs.

Please name me who stood out on the defensive side in those playoff games? Could it possibly be that the opposing teams offensive coordinators game plan was to take him out of the equation? Who else shined? Butler also needs to put the players in better positions with adjustments.

Not worried about the contract as far as i'm concerned, a rookie QB will take 4 years to require a hefty raise. And I believe this draft will be the pick #1 for the next franchise QB.

Right. Steelers should just give him $40M/yr then.

TJ didn’t practice today. He was there, but just did individual stuff, same as training camp.

Dale says he's going to play Sunday, but he will have to practice this week to play against Buffalo.

Dude's gonna be rustier than a 20 year old nail stuck in the mud for the Bills game. He signed a flipping 5 year contract but only wants to honor 4 of those years. He should be in full practices and preseason games. I like the guy but this is getting ridiculous.

I hear You , but win or not 7 has done something in those games , whereas TJ has done nothing in those games. Should I break out some meaningless stats??

:hmm: will these stats provide value vs money spent? I do enjoy a bunch of meaningless stats though.

My Friend it doesn't matter if the Rooney's were the riches people in the world....ask Jerry Jones....you still have 2 be within the Cap. You,or I don't have 2 be rocket scientist (Dobbs) 2 know if more then 15% of the cap goes 2 TJ....well 85 goes 2 the rest of the team. Now add Minkah.
