Distraction is mental and these guys should be professional about it. Once the first game is played and he is not there, Bell is Mr. Irrelevant and we go on without him as if he was injured. We can get something for him. Don`t cut him.

You absolutely cannot cut Bell. For 1 reason. He wins if you cut him. The team needs to send a message that they will not cave into this type of behavior. We cut him then expect more players to take the same route once they don't get the contract they want. Holding our ground will deter future issues. IMO there's only 1 player that can pull this BS and get away with it- the QB.

He needs to be traded. The FO should have traded him in the offseason... .now his trade value has taken a major hit and we are stuck with this distraction. I hope we've allowed him to seek a sign and trade deal and we can move on. It sucks but he's chosen this road, not us. I think he's making a huge mistake for his own career. In the end I highly doubt he will end up with more $ than what the steelers offered him. It's turned personal and his ego will never allow fair negotiations to take place. We have to trade him and move on.

I’m pretty sure a retiring player has to give back a prorated portion of the guaranteed salary.

True but don't forget the 49ers traded for Garrapolo last year I believe with 1 year left taking the gamble that they would resign him.

I was right about the increased salary being a possibility.

You are correct. Retire and you owe prorated portion of signing bonus.

To be fair I wasn't expecting it to happen, just wanted it put out there as an option. As the article pointed out how unlikely it was. I can't even find a time when this type of action has occurred.

Correct me if I'm wrong though on this. If we have unused cap space this year it roles over into available space next year....
It still doesn't explain the moves of restructuring McDonald and Heyward. We would have had the cap space anyway.

I swore that they were going to make a trade for a LB. (don't know who) It was the most logical thing I could come up with.

Hey anybody out there wanna just cut him loose.????Forget about the draft pick we would be getting.Just pull the plug on the tag,and be done. This is gonna be a season long thing. Its not gonna go away. There is gonna be bad feelings in the locker room to some if he returns.Pretty sure front office is pissed.Let us just get the hell on with life without this guy. Lev bells actions have spoke load and clear. He clearly doesn't wanna be here so let him hit the friggin road!!

No you let him sit out and when he shows to sign you rescind the tag and tell him to get the F out of Pittsburgh. If he waits most of the year he will be basically useless by that time with whoever picks him up.

He is losing over 8 hundred thousand for each game he misses. I say let him miss the 10 and then he becomes a FA and can get the fook out of the burgh.. good riddens Felicia

Do you wonder about the level of understand of the concept of posting onto a pre-existing identical thread rather than starting a new completely identical thread to like........15 others?
This is getting downright goofy. It's that trees and forest thing. :sleepy:

It did appear as if they were gearing up to make a move and yes, the cap space rolls over into next season. Every game Bell stays away, the cap space increases by about 850,000.

They can't trade him until he signs his franchise tender, who knows when that will be.
