I agree if we are rolling with Conner, Bell rides the pine. I thought I read somewhere every week he misses cost him about $850,000 that 850 would go back to the Steelers and not count against the cap. There is no reason to release him. That being said I think he comes back during the bye week. But since I have him on my fantasy team I'm hoping he comes back by week 4.

I picked Conner up on my fantasy league. People think I'm nuts. Bell's not showing for the first 8 weeks at least. Will probably be back for the 10th week.

I can't believe no one spent a pick in your league on Connor. A lot of reward little risk for a later round pick.

The guy in my league took Bell #1 overall, he then drafted Connor later which was smart.

Funny thing is he is a Browns fan. Hahaha.

Some how I got Gurley at #4 overall.

Yes, excellent point, our cap space increases every week he misses.

I'd probably have Bell on my team but he was grabbed right before my pick. I got Kamara, whom I was thinking about taking anyway. More than happy with that pick.

Cutting or benching Bell at this point would be the very definition of asinine.

We still have arguably the best RB in the NFL for this season. He'll be looking to showcase that he still has it to other teams who will be bidding for his services next year so there shouldn't be any doubts that he'll be giving it his all.

Cutting him gains us what? What possible benefit would it give the team this year? Play the wheels off of him and shoot for the S.B. Next year we can worry about next year.

Doesn't sound like he is going to let them run the wheels off him according to his agent. Add to his teammates saying some pretty damning stuff, I think they know he isn't reporting anytime soon.

If he hasn’t shown up by Sunday I’ll believe he’s going to sit out. At that point cutting him could be considered.
    Until then? No.

I replaced him with Tavon Austin off the free agent list. << to show what kind of options I'm looking at. He's my 4th option at RB. Not great but not terrible.

I'm actually starting him over Marshawn Lynch this week. Besides getting Saquon Barkley with 1st round pick, my RBs aren't all that amazing. My WRs and TEs are the highlight.

I think Conner will get some big runs this week. The o-line is going to be pumped up.

I don’t know how accurate it was, but someone posted a report here and said the Steelers actually could pay him more if they wanted to.

No negotiations for a new deal are over. The deadline was in July sometime. He's either riding on the franchise tag this year or not.

And do you trust him saying we’re in the middle of a playoff run he’s in a crucial game he obviously doesn’t care about the Steelers who says he won’t put one on the ground it at bad time

I'm thinking the most likely scenario is that Bell reports week 10, playing out what is required to be eligible for free agency next year. The Steelers will most likely keep him on the roster, and the locker room will have to deal with this distraction when he finally arrives.

It took him 4 games to get going last year. When will he be putting up these big numbers he wants to portray for payday?

Conner will most likely be the starter the vast majority of the year, and who knows maybe the entire year. Not really fair to Conner to pull him week 14.

The players speaking out against him is what scares me. I agree with you, his teammates must know. Still fingers crossed he comes back for game 4.

I believe the post was earlier in this thread. Some report that said they could add money to the franchise tag price.

    Edit
Sorry not this thread, but I believe it was “will Bell report today “

Yes i do ...Better than trusting Bell needing a yard with a big hit coming ..We all know he will lay down, because he is laying down right now ... I would rather live with a fumble from a Team guy than a duck and dodge from a me guy...

    So I don't trust Bell..lol not 1 bit...

If he shows up in week 10, does the FO have to sign him immediately or can they let him sit in limbo?

Here’s how I look at it. If we are in the hunt, then we get a fresh Bell for the playoff run. If we are not in the hunt then don’t sign him until we are ready to or run his legs off the last 6 games of the year. 50 touches as a RB and WR seems reasonable
