Cowher was gifted a franchise QB too. Ben was forced on him, when he wanted someone else.
It was Cowher's choice to spend draft picks on other areas of the team, instead of trying to get a franchise QB.

Cowher had a Championship roster (2005), and went 8-8 (2006).

Tomlin was handed an 8-8 team, and got to the playoffs his first year.

If having a SB-caliber roster was enough, the Eagles would have done more since winning in 2017.
The Rams have been good-but-not-great since going to the SB in 2018.

Or how about the Saints, which won the SB in 2009, and still have Brees on their roster?
(They have had 4 losing seasons between then and now.)

Yes, Tomlin is a great coach. Players want to play for him and he has gotten the job done. His only knock has been not having a better handle on the likes of AB or L.Bell. However, he was not given as much credit as he deserved. Both of these guys egos blew up even more after they left Pittsburgh. People now realize Tomlin better handled them than anyone could have imagined.

Many will accuse you of being blind, ignorant or otherwise not seeing reality. Never had a losing season, always in the.hunt, 2 trips to the SB, so far one Champion. Oh, greatest undefeated streak to every start a Steelers season. I'd imagine many 'fans' would trade their coaches success for him. And they had many coaches to choose from during his reign. :) Stand strong!

The rule has one purpose and one purpose only. Bring more blacks into head coaching positions.

If you care to prove me wrong, tell me that last five candidates to be interviewed from the combined minorities of Asian, Latino, or any other person not white or black.

He has been the HC for 14 years, the Rooney rule has nothing to do with if he gets fired .

Do you honestly think your response proves anything? Anything at all? Anything?

I wonder what Tomlin will do in this scenario: We are 15-0 and have locked up #1 seed. Brownies is last game and we could play backups and take the loss.

Will he play starters to try to have perfect season? Mmm.

He should play starters to keep them fresh. But maybe not the entire game. Maybe not the entire first half.

I think I know you a little bit....at least as much as you can know someone through a keyboard. The question is, if he ever says anything of value, will you entertain him or just keep whacking him?:hmm::drinks:

I'm sorry, but this is a terrible argument. Tomlin is still the coach because that is what the Rooney family does. They stand by their coaches. They stood by Noll when he was past his prime. They stood by Cowher through some rough seasons. Given his resume, it is going to take multiple terrible seasons for them to move on from Tomlin. I say this as someone who as calling for them to make that move two years ago.

He posts some good stuff. I politely reply or give an agree, etc. Sometimes he has trouble reading and I help him along. He gets unhappy about that and says things his mother didn’t teach him. So I whack him.

    Its “whack a knucklehead”

I think he thinks he is important? Like his opinion is more important than the other 3094 members here?

I don’t disagree that the Steelers organization is loyal to their HCs as given they have only had 3 in 50 years or whatever. I still don’t believe that is always a positive as the latest playoff futility has shown. This year seems to be different and maybe Mike changes that narrative. Losing in a tough game to KC or the SB although it would be disappointing would be understandable. Anything else in the playoffs and I’m sorry TOMLIN could go 14-2 or 15-1 and it still wouldn’t help his biggest flaw, that he can’t out coach or prepare his team in the biggest games. Bens time is very close to over and I would argue if we don’t win a title this year or next you could be looking at 15-20 years of playoff disappointment. Is that acceptable because of loyalty and Regular Season success? I guess each fan has the right to their opinion on what success looks like. Maybe the Rooney rule is a weak argument but in today’s politically correct world nothing surprises me.

Ill give him some credit, the bad Tomlin loss has not happened yet. The last 3 games were perfect opportunities for it and they have gotten the job done. Now they need to continue to win and try and secure the 1 seed. Prepare for the playoffs and make a run because regular seasons only mean so much. Its all about the hardware, and Tomlin is silencing some critics but his playoff performances speak for themselves.
