If the Steelers lose one of their remaining games (hopefully we dont have to worry about this), and the Chiefs win out making us both 15-1 how do they decide who wins Homefield Advantage?
Chiefs will have lost to the Raiders and lets say the Steelers either lose to the Ravens, Bills or Colts.
Who gets it in that scenario?

Thanks. I had the same question. So, we'd win if our 1 loss was outside our division.

Basically Steelers have to go undefeated in the AFC North and have only one loss to someone else not in AFC North.

Then end both end up at 15-1 of course.

Of course this could all get thrown out if the league moves to a bubble for the Playoffs.

Our division record means nothing when it comes to a tiebreaker with Kansas City. Division tiebreakers are only against division teams.

    1. Head-to-head (Not applicable)
    2. Conference record
    3. Common games record (min of 4)
    4. Strength of victory
    5. Strength of schedule
    6-10 are points related
    11. Coin flip

The Chiefs have to play at Tampa, and they have to play at New Orleans Week 15, hopefully with Drew Brees back. They could very well drop another game and provide some breathing room.

Tampa next week would be the chance. Brees isn’t coming back before the playoffs IMO

I don't ever look at this stuff since the early 2000's. I listened to Bill Cowher. Wait until
the final season game ends and take a look. But since this one seemed easy I took a quick look.

KC is in the catbird seat if both are 15-1

There is one slim shot ---Lose to Washington and win the conference record 12-0 to 11-1

    Why you ask?

If our 1 loss is to any of the 5 remaining afc games conf.record ties it goes to common opponents

They already have beaten Buf and Bal so losing to either loses common opponents

If our 1 loss is to Cle, Cin or Indy common opponents ties

Next is SOVictory-- Lose this also[as of now] NFC East does the job.

    TWO CLUBS BELOW:
    1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
    2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. <------------ WOULD THIS COME INTO PLAY OR NO? I THOUGHT IT WOULD
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
    4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    5. Strength of victory.
    6. Strength of schedule.
    7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
    8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
    9. Best net points in common games.
    10. Best net points in all games.
    11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
    12. Coin toss

No.. because they are not in the same division.

And 3 and 4 are flipped when its not a divisional opponent.

If we had to get a loss, if it is our last NFC game against Washington, then we would have tie breaker for sure.

    I HAVE THE ANSWER!

I found the ESPN playoff predictor. The ONLY AFC team we can lose to and have tie breaker over KC at 15-1 is the Bungles. All others we lose when tied at 15-1 with KC. Of course game with Wash is no brainer don`t hurt on tie breaker, but question was among AFC teams.

I think it’s gonna take going 15-1 and hoping Kansas City loses one of their 3 tough games they have remaining which are at Tampa, at Miami, or at New Orleans. I don’t wanna take a chance and end up finishing tied at 15-1 or even 14-2 with KC because I don’t think they will win the tiebreaker that way based on our schedule and the teams the Steelers have a chance to lose too. You gotta finish a game ahead in the standings that way the tiebreakers are a non factor.

Yep. Sometimes you've just gotta do what you've gotta do.
