I'm a Strat man and I never use tremolo. I just shake it Stevie style. Although he did use a tremolo that was actually a left handed tremolo. If I was gonna use one I really might do it that way because you could sorta keep it in your hands easier. If you wanna know how to use that thing though just listen to Jeff Beck of course.

Well, the Floyd Rose used to be on a Strat. It was a project guitar given to me a long time ago that I ended up selling. The original owner routed out the bridge on an American Strat to accomodate it, and put a different neck on it (I can't recall what neck at the moment). The guy I sold it to didn't want the Floyd Rose (partially out of fear and partially to get me to drop the price), so I kept it, but never put it on another guitar so it's sitting in a box somewhere. I can almost guarantee it will never see another guitar by my hand, because it was so much of a PITA.

Side story: My high school shop teacher was also a Luthier who I became good friends with years after I graduated. I'd go to his shop and spend hours hanging out, playing guitar, and watching him work on his pieces. Anyway, when I first got that guitar I told him about it and was suggesting that he take a look at it and maybe make some modifications to it. He just looked at me blankly and pointed to the wall. I looked up and saw the sign that simply read: "No Floyd Roses!". My jaw dropped.

Dude when I use to pursue music as a career I had two rules that I absolutely lived by as a Strat man. NEVER use a Floyd on a Strat and NEVER use Humbuckers in a Strat. LOL. I've only heard of one person that was ever happy with a Floyd on a Strat. I can tell you of the coolest Strat I've ever played though. Daytona Beach has a guitar shop down there with a Fender Custom Shop room in there. 9 years ago we were down there and I went in that shop and they had this really sweet looking teal green Strat with noiseless pickups and an awesome maple neck. So the guy was like "you should play that one because John Cruz made it and he makes all of Clapton's" and so they let me play it and dude it was like I held heaven in my hands! My wife took a picture of me playing it and I was just in pure bliss. So then I was like "how much is that"? The guy goes "$7,000" and I just VERY calmly handed it back. LOL. But man that thing was awesome and it was tailored to same specs of all of Clapton's custom stuff and I was like "dude I can't afford ONE with these specs but Clapton has hundreds??? Life is so unfair sometimes" LOL.
