I think if we lose next week this season is over for sure...

Between the suspensions and injuries it eventually becomes too much to overcome, I think that is what we are seeing.

The season may in fact be ruined by the Bell injury but our biggest mistake will be trying to pretend the whole next man up mantra actually has some merit. The truth is we're not gonna replace him so don't even try to pretend any sort of RB by committee is the way to go. We only have one shot at making chicken **** into chicken salad and that's to just throw all caution into the wind.
Our D is playing surprisingly well and I still see room for improvement if we can get healthy(Tuitt). We need to just forget about trying to replace Bell and just go pass happy the rest of the way,we have the personnel to do just that and to me it's our only legitimate chance we have of going anywhere. Thoughts?

    huge hurdles
getting Jones to actually be any good on defense
having a receiver we can count on completely
    and
hoping our veteran team leader of a qb will quit with the silly turnovers

They dont have to abandon the run, Williams is more than capable but what you are losing the most is Bells catching ability, that dual threat he provides. Williams isnt bad at it but he's no Bell. I think Heath will take on a bigger role as a check down guy but he's still needed to help out the line too.

I'm not saying abandon the run but we can't expect to feature Williams like he is Bell. In this case it's definitely not next man up because Bell can't be replaced. We can run but it should be out of a spread most of the time. As much as I hate them , the Cheats are a passing team that knows how to run effectively as well. Doubt our coaches are smart enough though to make it work....just like how we have our franchise QB coming of a injury that he came back early from taking 7 step drops and throwing bombs. Makes no sense.....

Don't forget Bell's pass protection too. That's a really big deal when you're playing with a 3rd string tackle.

We went pass happy yesterday and it didn't work. We've got to have some balance. Williams can get it done but the line is gonna have to step up. Bell can do a lot just from his pure skill but Williams needs a little more help than that.

Can we perhaps keep Haley and his playbook but get some Madden football champ to call the plays? That would help immensely.

Yeah we seem to just throw crap at the wall and see what sticks sometimes. Tomlin has said that he doesn't really care if a dude is hurt or whatever but if he is on the field he should be able to execute the whole playbook and that's why he says "the standard is the standard". I think that's really stupid philosophy honestly.

They should just tank the rest of the season and get a top 10 draft pick.

No we went more like throw deep into double and triple coverage happy. I'm talking about quick decisions and quick passes. Also I'm not saying forget the run but don't pretend losing Bell doesn't change anything. The standard isn't the standard we have to make adjustments....

I'm sure in 2005 that their starting LT, RB, Center, Kicker weren't all on IR either. The fat lady is singing it's all over.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they did that to cover up for the Jarvis mistake.

I didn't read thru all of the responses, but I agree the season is lost. They may still make the playoffs but that's about it. One and done. Sure they may still pull off a miracle, but I highly doubt it. Nevertheless I will still be following and hoping they can catch lightning in a bottle...again.

And Im actually ok with it. I didn't have great expectations going. This was supposed to be a transition year IMO. Im thinking that next year, provided they stay healthy, is their best shot at #7.

One really big positive is the play of the defense. Unless they have a collapse over the last 1/2 of the season, that side of the ball has to be considered a success.
