How do you compensate for the loss of a player like this. Highsmith is good but no where good enough when he gets the attention.

Yup. I have no doubt the Steelers would be in the playoffs if Watt had been healthy this season. He is also a big reason why I thought the Steelers would have been much more competitive if they had snuck in and played the Bills next week. I think they were also without Fitzpatrick in the first one. Yeah, the Bills are great, but losing two All-Pro players is going to make a difference.

We would have been in the playoffs if we hadn’t had a fg blokced

My biggest fear is he won't be able to stay healthy for an entire season. He plays very reckless which is both good and bad.

Probably. You can point to many things this season. Losing Watt for half the season is one.

    You don't.

TJ alone accounts for an 80% win rate vs 14% win rate, 8.5 less PPG, 100 less yards a game, over 2 sacks a game, and over 1 turnover per game. LOL that's nutty.

To be fair, the games Watt missed were the tougher part of the schedule, including the Bills and Eagles, so those numbers are skewed a little bit.

All the more reason I stated in another thread that this is easily Tomlins best Coaching Season. That included 2019; a year when Watt was healthy. Losing the game's best ass kicker for half the season?! Go see how well the Rams played without the likes of Aaron Donald. For that matter, go see how well the Chargers played in 2020 without Derwin James.

It is difficult losing key pieces along the Defense to injury?! Losing someone like TJ?! Good luck winning games!!

All the more crucial to add an OLBer that can play above the line as a role player. Maybe its Jamir Jones? They need to look in the draft possibly the 3rd round.

The concern is it took some time for the defensive coaching staff to adjust to the loss of Watt.

I wish I could LOVE this! Being at the game when TJ came back vs the Saints, the difference in the team and the crowd was HUGE.

Do you ever remember Jamir Jones making a play in a game? I don't. He's just invisible.

Even easier than a FG is catching a kick. We beat the patriots and are in if Gunner doesn't muff a freaking punt.

Both him and Malik Reed. That's why they need to focus on the position of having a qualified swing guy that is actually above the line. A draft pick to groom into that role.

That’s the one I remember. All he had to do was catch the stupid punt. It doinked right off his face mask. The guy was brought in to do one job and failed miserably at it.

Yet Malik made plays in Denver? I commend the Steelers on trying to fill a big hole. I am also amazed
how big an effect TJ made on our overall defense. Tell's me one thing, we need a deeper QUALITY roster.

Our Secondary really sucked when he was out, We need to upgrade the CB/Safety positions.

a big reason we won more games down the stretch was a SIGNIFICANT drop in turnovers. We are not nearly good enough to cough the ball up a time or 2 a week......and win. ALMOST had one with the DJ fumble, but the refs were on our payroll this Sunday (at least for that play....)

We led the league in interceptions but my guess that’s a lot to do with pass rush. At least the corners caught the ball. Need a true #1 eventually and a MLB

such an odd season stat because, while I remember a lot of the interceptions, it doesn't feel like we led the league.

They also dropped three or four of them against the Dolphins.

I've said it before you don't trade players like TJ Watt, Cam Heyward, or Minkah Fitzpatrick
