This is what happens when a HOF QB isn't around to compensate for Cheerleader Tomlin's incompetence.

No I'm not, I'm not absolving any player for poor execution... I'm being critical of the HC the man in charge of everything.

Is that a function that the majority of people have nothing useful to say or that the majority of people who keep talking have nothing useful to say

    I’ll stop talking now :smiley1:

Never watched it either. I never got hooked on the whole reality TV craze, "Survivor", etc. "Deadliest Catch" and Gold Rush" are about it for my reality viewing.

Players play and coaches coach, you can't blame the coaches for Ben throwing 4 interceptions against the Browns in the playoffs .

Maybe you can... Again not absolving anyone player from poor play. Ben is not the only player that has not played well. Tomlin has a history of NOT having his teams ready or focused.

Man, I just can't buy that line of thinking. In game adjustments, game planning, clock/ time-out management? These are all things you can maybe fault Tomlin for but getting players ready?
These are grown a$$ men who are professionals. They shouldn't need their coach to get them focused.
Also, I might be wrong here but isn't that the one thing the Tomlin haters actually will give him, that he's a good motivator and players love to play for him?

I think players like him because he is soft with discipline... Grown men still are coached by their coach and prep for the next opponent by their coach.

True. But we have seen multiple times the team losing to a lesser opponent. It's possible the coaching staff as well as the players in this instance were taking it light and not being totally focused. That's the head coaches job to rein them in and have the sense of urgency in every contest. Seems it's lacking in certain cases.

There's a lot of examples of things that shouldn't be needed in this world, but they are. Most of these players aren't grown men, just the opposite.

It is an undeniable fact that the Steelers have lost games that on paper they shouldn't have. I just don't want to believe that is due to focus however I've been known to be wrong before.
What will then be the narrative if they are able to pull off an upset over the Bills? Is it because the Bills were unfocused and took them lightly? Or because the Steelers had a better game plan?
At some point the results on the field have to come down to game planning and the players ability to execute. Not every win or loss is based solely on "focus".

I just agreed to seemingly contradictory points. :lolol:

The are highly competitive adult men…but there’s still a need (opportunity?) to bring that monumental energy to a laser-focus. And return it there at the right times.

Consider just our last 2 playoff games. Against Jacksonville we gave up 28 points in the 1st half, 2 more than their season average. We fell behind 21-0 before scoring. Against Cleveland we fell behind 28-0 in the first freaking quarter. Those Steeler teams didn’t just lay eggs. They laid rotten, sulphuric stink bomb Ostrich-sized eggs. The coaching has to play a key role in that degree of epic failure. I’m not a raving anti-Tomlin guy, but I’m also not going to consider him an innocent bystander to the series of failures that this team has experienced in recent years.

I am with you. I see both sides.

I will say that we have all seen Tomlin be complacent at times. Things he says in press conferences, body language, etc. The moments of complacency that we pick up on lead me to believe that there is more where that came from behind closed doors.

Teams tend to take on the personality of their coach. When Tomlin feels challenged by a game, the team does too. When Tomlin is overconfident, so is the team.

At the end of the day, Tomlin is the Head Coach. Everything should, and does fall on him.

As I mentioned many reasons a game can be lost... I pointed out that focus on the the task at hand if you will is below the line with Tomlin obviously... Poor execution and game planning have a role but why are they not executing or why is the game plan lacking. Was the focus through the week not where it should be was Tomlin not getting the players there mentally?
