This article is very distrubing, makes a lot of sense. It will put some doubt in yor mine and make you think seriously about the Steelers chances this season. These are the things that the article talks about:

Pros, cons of Steelers’ Super Bowl chances

    WHY THEY WON’T

    1. THEY’RE NOT GOOD AT THREE-PEATING

    2. THE WHO’S-ON-FIRST OFFENSIVE LINE

    3. THE SCHEDULE

    4. TOO MUCH COMMOTION

    5. IT’S NOT EASY TO STAY GOOD

At this point, my mind in not at ease.

It doesn't disturb me. Actually, he has one theme song in this article -- the Steelers have failed to threepeat in some past situations, therefore they are completely unable to threepeat at all. Alan Robison, as a writer for the Associated Press, wrote good factual and complete sports news articles, and nicely conveyed the feel of the game in his recaps of sports events. Now that he seems to be working for the Trib, I think it's a matter of wait and see whether or not he's also a good forecaster.

    1. THEY’RE NOT GOOD AT THREE-PEATING: Meaningless stat, the past doesn't affect the future.

    2. THE WHO’S-ON-FIRST OFFENSIVE LINE: They've been dealing with an inferior line for years and won a SB with one.

    3. THE SCHEDULE: Jets? I'm laughing. Titans, Cowboys and Denver hardly instil fear in me. Plus we still get the Clowns twice.

    4. TOO MUCH COMMOTION: Stupid point, every team has "commotion" to deal with.

    5. IT’S NOT EASY TO STAY GOOD: And yet that's just what they have done for 2 decades now.

This article did nothing to make me feel uneasy.

if that article changed your mind on anything i got some great swamp land... i wish i had the last 5 minutes of my life back reading that worth dribble article.. if thats the best that guy can write about he needs to find a new line of work... so because teams in the 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s never had 3 good seasons this team wont? we have the same line as last year and added colon? is that that bad and how will we finish worse with the same line + colon? to me that guy is an idiot grasping at straws.. what team is good at 3 peating? whos on first? same as last year? comotion? lol is he kidding? not ez to stay good.. nope its not.. but we are as good at it as any team in all of sports.. the only one i agree with is the schedule.. if we win the division thats a non issue.. if we dont gettign a wild card may be tuffer in our division that some other division playing an easier scehdule.. but what division has better second and third place teams? not the west.. not the east? im 90% sure the 2nd place team in our dividion will get a playoff birth...

For some reason I think that article was supposed to present the 5 reasons whey SHOULD be Super Bowl contenders and 5 reasons why they SHOULDN'T.

Either the article is a 2-parter, or they forgot the other 5 reasons.

I'm not so sure why you guys are not taking Denver serious.....heck they beat us last year and havea much better qb this year

Denver beating us was a fluke and poor game plan by DL. He gave zero credit to Tebow. Even Tebow can hit uncovered receivers. As for Manning, it's yet to be seen what kind of QB he will be this time around. He's a year removed from the game and coming off 3 or 4 neck surgeries.

Having Big Ben means we are at worst an 8-8 or 9-7 team every year....

If you got the QB that is 75% of the battle...

Re: This is very disturbing, history not on the Steelers sid

Disturbing indeed. I stopped taking it seriously after the first sentence.

#1: Three-peating? We didn't win the Super Bowl either of the last two years, or even win the division last year. What is he talking about? OOooohhhhh it's some random stat he just picked out of the pile. Gotcha. A stat that actually supports us, mind you.

#2: Our OL is a lock to be better in 2012 than it was in 2011. The players that were there and remain are young and will be better. We have a very good veteran joining the group. We have two young rookies, one of which will probably be around in the later part of the year, the other of which at least represents an upgrade at BU swing tackle. We've also got someone running it all who will know what to do with them better than the last guy. But let's say they suck anyway. Yeah, we've never done anything with a crappy offensive line... What's that? We won a Super Bowl with an offensive line waay worse than this one? Oh yeah, I forgot about that. By the way, this is the point where I officially consider this article a practical joke. Notice he proclaims that Willie Colon shifted to left guard because of David DeCastro's injury. Riiiiight.

#3: So we faced two 2 win teams last year, huh? And how many are we facing this year? We don't know yet? Because the future hasn't happened yet? Yeah, none of these teams have the potential to be terrible, right? Not like the Chiefs or Browns or Raiders or Browns. But let's say they're all great anyway. Yeah, we've never won anything with a tough schedule. What's that? We won the Super Bowl against the most difficult schedule in 30 years? Hmm. I forgot about that.

#4: Commotion? Wtf? This has been one of the breeziest offseasons I can remember. It's been so empty that we have fans making stuff up to complain about. Now, when your star QB is accused of rape, suspended for 4-6 games and nearly traded, THAT'S some commotion. That's a tough offseason. That's when you can't expect to do any good when the season starts. What's that? We went 3-1 with our 3rd/4th string quarterbacks and lost the Super Bowl by one score that year? Hmm, I forgot about that.

#5: See #1. Literally. It's not just the same answer, it's the same question too. We won't do well this year because we were 12-4 the last two years. Seriously, it's the exact same thing as in #1. Does anyone seriously think that this is a new point? I wonder if he'll come out with a #6, say it again, and pretend there are 6 reasons. Probably not. I guess that's impossible if he already made two terrible meaningless articles before this one. It's hard to three-peat.

edog, HOW did you let this get to you? This thing is a joke. This team has legitimate concerns, but this article doesn't do them any credit.

Oh no! I take it all back! Now, if only he was the one who broke the news that Wallace wouldn't settle for less than $120 million, then I'd really believe him.

No offense to TC, but none of these points amount to anything at all. Different teams have dealt with all of these things and have still been successful.

Here, "threepeat" means going 12-4 three times in a row. I think the Colts did it like 10 years in a row or something like that.

ahhhh. my bad, i thought they meant SB's. no need to 3peat 12-4. 13-3 will do just fine. 14-2 much better. 15-1 back to bens rookie year. 16...... watch out 72 fins. :hehehe:

Well, he's talking about SB chances, since that's the title of the article, and I always thought that's what "threepeat" referred to.. Guess he might also be referring to the fact that our first 4 Lombardies were actually 2 sets of 2 SB wins. Only he's applying the notion to every stat he can find. OK, now I am really befuddled with his logic. When you're the first and only team in the league that has 7 trophies, what the heck does it matter how they were spaced out over time?
