I've come to the conclusion that the reason these problems crop up at the beginning of the season, every season for the last how many years is Tomlin's approach to the game. Every season is a new story, they close the book on last season and start fresh so there is never any building on last season. It's a clean slate in which they do the same thing every year. It's as if the whole team is Dory.

It’s probably true. Even Ben was talking about a “clean slate” .

Another thing is....wait, what, where am I , who are you....

In fairness, I'm a lifetime member of Bass Master, and up until the mid-2010's I was a 'semi-pro' bass fisherman myself. I still have the boat and a lot of the fishing gear.

Really that’s pretty cool. I used to do a lot of freshwater fishing for bass. Smallmouth are a lot of fun. I used to fish a lot of top water lures for them. My parents house was 1/4 mile walk through the woods to one of the many NYC reservoirs and I would take the walk and fish from shore a helluva lot as a kid. We did have a rowboat on there for years too.

I’m a saltwater guy now even though it’s a easy 1 1/2 drive. I bought a boat about 3 years ago and I try to get out as much as I can. Which isn’t nearly enough. Fisherman are usually good, honest people. They just usually exaggerate some:smiley1:

Nice. I still get out on the lakes and streams (and some salt), but not in tournaments anymore.

if we fired Tomlin, how long would he get credit for the wins that the new coach had with Tomlin’s players?

Definitely. Not the tournaments though, they drove me nuts. It was too much like work.

You have heard the old saying give me the Jimmies and the Joe's.
The hell with x's and the O's? Well that is what you have got thru the Tomlin Era.

It wouldn't be the same scenario because this team didnt win a sb, go to a sb, nor were they on the cusp of a sb. This is a different team than even what we had 2 years ago. The new coach if he were successful would get the credit.

If that's how you choose to look at the situation. I prefer a better and more positive view. The Steelers made the playoffs 8 out of 12 years that Tomlin tenure. That's what this fan base had during this era up to this point.

I don't know how much of an X's and O's coach is or isn't. Neither does anyone except the people in the locker room. That being said, he must know a thing about X's and O's if the team had a lot of success under him. Plenty of coaches that people believe are X's and O's guys haven't had the level of success that Tomlin's had with the Steelers.

We were given a gift one of those playoff years by another team. We didn't earn it on our own, but hey it counts. At least 4 were earned with cowher players. Like it or not he inherited a SB caliber team. That puts that 8 of 12 years in a little more perspective.

Tomlin has never been an X's & O's coach. Why expect it now?

I don't care to bath in the Cowher player nonsense. They were Steelers players.

They had the opportunity to compete for the Superbowl 8 out of 12 seasons. Steelers fans are such a spoiled bunch.

I feel a bit of empathy for the people that can only seem to focus on the negatives. Their Steelers experience must be miserable most of the time. The negativity directed towards this franchise by it's fans is mind boggling and sad to an extent. Maybe this is just a sign of the times of the world? If it makes you happy to have such narrow minded and negative view carry on.

    Just looking at recent history:
    2016 playoffs - AFC Championship game L
    2017 playoffs - Divisional game L
    2018 No Playoffs
    2019 Embarrassing 0-1 so far

    Not exactly trending up.

As I see it you have a few options. You can either pull for the team to get better, keep being miserable, crying, and trashing the team's accomplishments, or you can become a fan of another team. Only one of those teams clearly had more success than the Steelers since Tomlin became the HC.

I choose to be optimistic and pull for the team to play better. I know that they can play better. I refuse to fall into the negative, miserable, and unhappy category that many of you like to reside. Carry on.

    Who's miserable, crying, trashing, ect.?
I pointed out facts and even included a bar graph.
I still hold the Steelers to a higher standard than the rest of the league. You've settled.
