That last flag on the kneel down was because you had an extra tackle Anderson in as eligible and he lines up left. Leaving Chucks uncovered. Also note it looks like they only had 10 players on the field as it also looks like Minka is jogging off as they break the huddle!

Stop trying to play games with this formation!

I started to get nervous when they couldn't run out the clock there.

At least they didn't pull a "University of Miami."

Terrible clock management at the end. It makes me wonder how they got to this level by being so amateur sometimes. I have never heard of a player becoming an eligible receiver on a victory formation. Who in heck ever would even come up with that brain cramp idea?

They've been doing this crap with rotating in an extra lineman on kneel downs for a few years now. Why they have Minka out there in the first place is beyond me.

Point is, you have your players set for this situation, and you don't start getting fancy.

Minkah is out there in the event of a bad snap and a bad guy picks it up

You need someone fast who can tackle

Hopefully all he really has to do is observe

Who cares how they line up or do a kneel down, I’m just happy they are getting a win and in that situation

We don’t get to run the victory formation often so I can see why it was slightly mangled.

Normally that's the case, but here they "should" have given the ball back with @13 seconds left. They gave it back with almost a minute and the defense had to make another set of plays to win.
I get that, but it's Minka and he wasn't out there because you called him off the field, meanwhile you're rotating in a call up to get a snap in as an eligible receiver and no one counts the players on the field leading to a penalty because Chucks isn't covered up. Looks like Najee was out there as that safety valve ultimately

Meaning you don't get the benefit of the kneel down that you were going for. We're having a different discussion if they somehow lose the game.

It's a garbage penalty anyway. On a friggen Kneel down!

Oh, no, but a Tomlin team is so tricky and slick. Didn't you know?

I think the clock management was just fine. The penalty is what the problem was.

Have you ever thought about a fumble and Minka may have to run him down?

They put in an eligible receiver and then got an illegal formation penalty on a Victory formation causing the clock to stop. How dumb is that? All they had to do was kneel down and kill the clock but someone decided to brain fart the process.

It was a screw up, for sure. I don’t know why they called Minkah off the field, but having a safety there is nothing new…. They did the same with Polamalu.

It is a kneel down play which can be run out of any formation, with any personnel group. As soon as the QB goes down the ref steps in to stop the play. There was absolutely no need to run it out of any specific formation or with a specific personnel group. But if determined to have a specific formation and group, run it correctly.

As a fan of the University of Miami, I approve this post.

Watch the play before, for some strange reason, they lined up different and changed personnel. Why?

To give other teams a different "look" on film for future reference? To have opposition coaches and players study, watch film, and possibly waste time? The Steeler might learn how the opposition might prepare for the Steelers formations under similar circumstances? The Steelers might gain an advantage in the future?

The Steelers played the %'s and won.
