Thats pathetic. I am Canadian and I know its a state. Everyone knows there are 52 states 50 in the US and one each for Canada and Mexico haha

 

I picked up a hitchhiker outside Toronto who told me he was a teenager before he figured out Canada wasn’t part of the United States

 

She was probably around 35 when she said that and yeah I remember in grade school where we had an assembly where the principal lowered the old 48 star flag and raised the new 50 star one. My dad never did recognize Alaska and Hawaii he said "How the hell can they be states they're not even near America!"

 

It's sorta the 51st state at least that's what we told our Canadian colleagues. They always seemed to love that comment. Isn't the stat like 90-95% of the Canadain population lives within 50 miles of the US border. Its something like that. A quick annexation and be done with it. HA

My older cousin was valedictorian of his class at East Forest HS, graduated with honors from Penn State with a degree in forestry, spent summers at fishing canneries in Alaska and is a very intelligent man. Yet he still asked if we had roving bands of hostile Indians in North Dakota. Sometimes the smartest people can still have dumb information.

I was actually complimented by grocery store workers in Oklahoma for saying things like thank you but no I can get it, or thank you one bag is great. Apparently it's a northern thing they don't get a lot in OK

 

That's ridiculous. Holy smokes there are some really dumb people out there and what's even scarier is many of those people have life impacting jobs!!

 

Maybe he thought since we lost the battle at Little Big Horn we still hadn't corralled all the hostiles, excuse me I mean Native Americans or is it indigenous Americans, hmm!!

 

There is still a law on the books in ND that if you are in a covered wagon and are approached by a Native American you are with in your rights to shoot them. I've have heard that they have tried to have it removed but the state legislators don't see the need because when could this actually happen. I think they came close during the pipeline demonstrations.

We had 7 families on our party line and to reach someone on your party line you just had to dial the last number. To reach my school buddy Rick all I had to do was dial the number 7 to reach his house. Our number ended in a 3 so if someone on the party line wanted to reach our house they just dialed the number 3.
