Yeah, even if he were using an AA-12, he would have needed a drum magazine for that kind of capacity.

    LOL at the picture.

There's custom shotguns with extended tube magazines for sports shooting that can hold up to 12 rounds. Somehow I doubt Herschel even had one of those. In fact, I'm certain of it because those magazines extend past the barrel even sometimes.

A stock pump gun only holds 4-5 depending on the model. When he got to shot 10 or so, I said WTF to my wife. LOL

Yeah. :) Credit goes to some dude on some website somewhere. :lolol:
Sounds about right. My run of the mill pump action Mossberg 12 gauge has a factory capacity of 6 rounds.

My 870 has 5, but it's always plugged at 2 anyway (hunting restrictions).

It's funny that the only time we see him reload is right before Rick has to save his ass.

I'm not a gun guy, in fact I'm not sure I've ever seen one in person before...

But I wish just ONCE someone, somewhere, on some movie or TV set would say, "Hold on... how many shots do you normally get in a gun before having to reload?" It's like, EVERY gunfight EVER put on film! You don't have to know anything about guns to look at a scene like that and be totally taken out of the moment. I'm supposed to be thinking about zombies, which my suspension of disbelief has allowed me to believe in for the hour, but instead I'm thinking about how many people had to suspend their disbelief when filming and editing that scene. He's about to get wasted, and I'm thinking, "Let's see, there's the camera man, the sound guy, the director, the actor who plays Herschel, the zombie actors around him, the editor and his assistants, and I wonder how many other people view that before it airs..."

Anyone see the movie Open Range? I like it a lot. Way more than I expected. I was watching the final battle with the director's (Kevin Costner) commentary, and he was saying, "I really hate it when they never show guys reload in the movies. I definitely didn't want that to be my movie. I paid really close attention to that when we made this so that--" and then you see HIS character shoot what is obviously a SIX SHOOTER like 14 times in a row.

Two things to his credit. When he saw it he went, "Oh, well, except for that I guess..." and the rest of the movie is really good about it; that's pretty much the only error that I can remember. But still! HOW many people had to see that? It's not that hard! Either show him reloading once in awhile (you don't have to show the whole thing, just him holding a bullet or something), or cut away before showing the 7th shot fired (or whatever a reasonable maximum is for that gun) and let us believe that he must have reloaded when the camera wasn't on him. We are willing to make that leap if you give us the chance! ANY MORON KNOWS THIS. HOW DOES THE WALKING DEAD EFF IT UP??

Other than some Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns, the only movies I remember pointedly showing reloads were movies where they made the reloads "uber cool." Like The Matrix, or Desparado, etc. But even then, they weren't consistent, and could show them firing way more than the gun should be holding.

I know it's nit picking. I'm willing to suspend disbelief and let that slide... usually. But when Herschel is standing not 15 yards away from a steadily advancing HORDE of zombies, yeah, it gets on my nerves. He might have had one chance to reload if he was really fast. After that, he'd have to fall back.

That was what I was thinking and I don't know anything about guns. Maybe it was one of those fancy repeating rifles like Lucus McCaine had on the Rifleman. :lolol:

    Season 3 is almost here.

If you remember the webisodes they did last year a couple weeks before Season 2 started up, they've done more. 4 new ones were posted on AMC's site today. Last year, the webisodes tied into a "character" from season 1. Not sure about this year's unless it's a short back story on a new character or 2. I hope so... get Cerina Vincent on the show (yummy). :)

LOL. Yeah. I've kinda been infatuated with her ever since Cabin Fever. Horrible movie, but she makes it worth watching.

Yeah, my TV schedule is picking up. I already have Fringe and Boardwalk Empire going. Now Walking Dead, and American Horror Story are kicking off. Plus football :).

    No new shows. That's enough.

If you haven't looked at American Horror Story on FX (Wednesdays), check it out. Very good stuff and you can just jump right in to Season 2. No need to watch previous episodes because each season is a new story. (Think of it like old anthology series: Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone, etc. Only they take a season to tell a story, then start fresh the next year). This season looks to make last year look tame.

Still, can NOT wait for TWD.

That part with Herschel was brutal.

I haven't read the comics but [spoiler2:qpo2ahj1]a friend was telling me last year he was bummed about Dale dying since we wouldn't see what happened to him later on as the comics did it. He was bit, and they cut his limb off to keep the infection from killing him. Guess they gave that to Herschel now.[/spoiler2:qpo2ahj1]

Bring on the Governor and Merle! :rawk:

Interesting. I have read a lot of the comics, but don't really remember that with Dale. [spoiler2:1q7qvew8]Being that Hershel was barely in the comics and didn't leave the farm, I wasn't expecting him to make it very far.[/spoiler2:1q7qvew8] We'll see how far he makes it I guess.

After all this talk about this show I decided to give it a shot. Started watching is a few weeks ago (The episode where the "Group" found the penitentiary to stay at). Of course I missed out on much of the backstory behind these characters but I've been quickly sucked in and is now on my Tivo Season pass. So, should I go back and watch previous episodes is the question.

You'll learn a bit about the group, but it's also just a damn good show.

This season is so good! Every single week I'm like "what the heck just happened?!?". Lots and lots of action, back to great special effects, and some interesting character development and appearances/disappearances.

By the way, who exactly is cutting the grass during the apocolypse? ;)
