Yes I agree it sucks losing both, I get what your saying about how Glenn's character has grown in the 7 years. As a matter of fact over the last few weeks while they were replaying the seasons I noticed this. With that said for some reason I just really liked the Abe character and don't get me wrong I am sad to see Glenn gone too.

When you look at the Negan story line and then the Carol/Morgan story line and also the Kingdom group story line.....oh and let's not forget the Daryl story line. You are going to have a ton of crap not sure how much "walker" fighting is gonna be left to do. As for how much fighting I am not sure either but what I was meaning is encounters. For example it shows on the previews Negan pounding on the gate, this can't be good. That leads me to think how many of these visits and who is gonna die or get hurt. I remember on one of the talking dead specials they were saying how nobody was safe and anything could happen.

That was some twisted crap! After Abe met Lucile, I put my guard down thinking the worst was over. Then they hit you like a Mike Tyson shot to the chin! Thought I would be used to Walking Dead villains, but Negan is on whole other level. I was actually in agony with Rick watching him make the decision to cut off Carl's arm.

I already can't wait for when Negan reaches the moment where he realizes he doesn't know ****. This is going to be a villain you love to hate. I think it's a safe bet that all the groups under Negans control will join forces to defeat him. The Kingdom looks to be really interesting group, leader has a tiger

I think thats the Kingdom group?

It was a very emotional premiere, but I was kind of bored during the ride Rick had to take with Negan. It seemed unnecessary as Rick still didn't have "the look" Negan wanted to see once they returned, as that didn't happen until Negan ordered Rick to cut off Carl's left arm. I thought for sure Negan was going to cut off Rick's right hand with the ax during that ride.

They said on Talking Dead last night that next week's episode is going to be funny. With Morgan and Carol in it? I don't know anything about The Kingdom, but it must be a place whose inhabitants are all cuckoo for cocoa puffs, if that's the case.:lolol:

As far as Maggie is concerned, they said on Talking Dead what her future holds with the Hilltop community. I don't know why she couldn't do that and still be with Glenn. Of course, I don't read the comics and am shying away from spoilers this season, so there is probably more to it than I can surmise at this point.

Yeah i can't wait for that time as well however I am not gonna lie the Negan character is pretty cool. Is the Kingdom group under Negans control and if not why? If Negan is so bad and so powerful why hasn't he taken that group? With Morgan and Carol at the Kingdom and next weeks show about them is this a set up to ricks group joining them? I can't wait for next week too.....

I think the ride was more about us then Rick, I think they wanted us to wonder who got the bat a little longer. At one point I was thinking Negan didn't kill anyone, especially when Negan said "was my joke that bad" I was like omg they tricked us.........man was I wrong.

I as well do not read the comics but have read some facebook posts where the people that read the comics feel the need to tell everything. So on the talking dead they did make sure we know Maggie is gonna be a big focus this season. So that tells me with what we saw last year with Maggie and Deanna that she is heading for some kind of leadership roll. All I know is when they had the talking dead special a few weeks back and we had no idea who got the bat. They said that this death will lead to a bigger story so we have to figure Maggie is going to take some kind of leadership role either for this group or the Kingdom group.

The dude they hanged from the bridge was part of the Kingdom (the ones on horseback wearing armor). Yes. Negan has them under his thumb too (or is in conflict with them at the very least. Not sure how they'll play it). The only reason Alexandria was unscathed until recently, is nobody knew they existed.

I just got to watch the premier last night. Wow, pretty brutal. My wife, who was incredibly affected by the "surprise" arrow to Denise's head (because it caught her off guard), was less affected by this episode.

I have to say that I think putting an entire off-season between the story at this specific instance was not the best idea. I had months to somewhat lose my emotional tie to the story, so I felt that it was anti-climactic at first. I stayed away from anything TWD related (other than FTWD), so I didn't know what was going to happen, but being a comic fan, I always thought that they were trying to throw us off with Glenn's dumpster scene, just to make us feel like he was safe. So I was kind of expecting Glenn to die, because it was just too iconic in the comics. I also wondered if they'd kill off two characters for the same reason (to throw off the comic readers temporarily), but I didn't really expect it to actually happen that way.

I still haven't finished the last 2 episodes of FTWD, so I guess that will have to hold me over until next week's episode.

I am with you about the off season, I think someone here mentioned it but they should have shown the bat come down on Abe and leave us like that. Then when they opened up this season they could have shocked the crap out of us with the Glenn bashing. I tried so hard and did so good at staying away from anything walking dead but like I have said the last 2 weeks I just couldn't help myself. I think they really screwed up cause a lot of people knew it was Glenn and Abe so what was the big deal of a cliff hanger? I read that there is a website that tells you what happened and this website confirmed that Glenn and Abe were not filming after the 1st episode. Now how much people believe of that depends, I was hoping it was wrong and it was a trick Kirkman and company might have worked in there.....it wasn't :-(

The other thing that was a little crappy I thought was how they made us wait to finally show who it was. Damn man we waited all off season don't keep us hanging, lol. Now don't take what I am saying wrong I am not all pissed off or thought it sucked as a matter of fact I loved it. I thought it was action packed, stunning and sad. I am just saying I wish they would have done it a little different, I gave into some spoilers without really knowing what I was read. Is that on me yeah I guess so but the addiction of this show got the best of me and I couldn't hold out any longer and wanted to hear/read what other fans of the show were thinking. Love the show sad to see both guys gone, but glad it is back on Sunday night.......

The weird thing is, when we were unsure about Glenn under the dumpster, both me and my wife were really intensely worried about Glenn. We were upset thinking he was possibly dead, and we were in disbelief, hoping it wasn't true. When we found out Glenn was still alive, we both felt a great sense of relief.

But the way this happened, I had so much time to prepare for the outcome, and like I said, somewhat of an emotional disconnect after so many months, that Glenn's death, the same Glenn we were so emotion about possibly dying before, didn't seem nearly as emotional. It was just kind of like, "well, that sucks, but I'm not surprised." I mean I like the character and hate to see him gone, but it just didn't have the same impact, at least for me.

The reason I thought Negan was going to chop off Rick's right hand during their ride is because of how Negan made such a big deal out of having a right hand man and then taking the ax along with them.

I understand Maggie is going to become the leader of the Hilltops, but I don't understand why she couldn't do that with Glenn by her side. I guess we'll find out. I hope she finds love again... maybe with Jesus! :lolol:

P.S. I keep wanting to type hightops for hilltops. Geesh... lol.

That was me, NYSteel, I said they could have broken it up, Abe in the season finale and Glenn for the season opener. But, as I said, they could have felt it would have lost some of its impact and then there is also the fact that nerd boys everywhere would have found out and leaked it :lolol:

@Ohio, I actually would have preferred the dumpster death of Glenn to getting his head bashed in by Negan. The dumpster death would have been a typical way for Glenn to die, trying to save someone else. Not getting his head bashed in while in submission, but I guess they are trying to make you hate Negan as much as possible. Its working. And technically, Glenn did die while trying to save someone else, thats why he was out there.

Speaking of Negan, Abraham aint even cold yet and you have a new man crush, NYSteel???? Sheesh.

After a few days to process it, I'm still more sad to see Abraham go. I really liked the guy. Watching it a second time (yeah, I'm the guy who sits through that hell more than once), I appreciated how Abraham went out. He rose up to Negan during the lineup, I believe, to call attention upon himself hoping it would be him. He wanted to spare everyone else in the group. I missed his little flash of a peace sign to Sasha right before he got hit on the first watch. That, and the stoic, acceptance look on his face knowing he was about to die, along with his defiance really made his one of the better deaths on the show. He was at peace with his fate.

Watching some of the "reaction" videos on youtube has been very entertaining. Right up there with some of the GoT reaction vids.

And wooo boy, did this episode bring out the Daryl haters. LOL, everyone wants to blame him for Glenn.

    No. Stop it.

I don't believe for a second Negan was going to be content with only killing one. His goal was to completely demoralize Rick's group. He was going to keep goading until someone acted out, or spoke out. Or he'd contrive an "offense." Or if after his taking Rick on a journey of grief, he still didn't think Rick was broken, he would have killed Glenn then... and THEN threatened his son.

If you're going to blame Daryl, blame EVERYONE at fault. Maggie for cutting the deal with the Hilltop to take Negan's men out in the first place. Rick for going along with it and organizing a massacre. All of Alexandria for jumping on board. Eugene for failing to be a good decoy. Everyone involved in the attack on Negan's men.

Or just blame Negan himself. ;)

I agree with everything you said about Abraham, @Ray D@Ray D. When Negan passed in front of him, Abraham "stood up" to him defiantly. He totes took one for the team.

I agree, Abraham took one for the team, NYsteel mentioned before that episode aired, that he thought it would be him because he did that. I also think Ray is probably right about Glenn, I think Negan had decided to kill him the moment he broke ranks, Negan doesn't have a soft bone in his body. The whole ennie meanie was hogwash, he knew he was going to kill Abraham and Glenn before he started.

What pisses me off, is that if they were going to kill off Glenn anyway, then they shouldn't have gotten rid of a colorful character like Abraham as well.

I guess I know now how Norman Reedus is able to work on his other shows that he has lined up, I'm guessing we won't see much of him now that Negan has him under lock and key. That was the reason I thought it was going to be him, and then when he hit Negan, I was like ****, here it comes.

Blast I never looked at it like that, if Glenn was a goner why take out another high quality character? Could you imagine the battle of one liners between Negan and Abe each week????? Also another point why wouldn't he take out Aaron instead of Abe? My reason for this is to teach that group a lesson, since Negan didn't know about them.

IDK, don't much matter now Abe is gone time to move on, can't wait to see what this new group can bring to the table. My thoughts on the next few weeks has me worried. I hope they don't drag this out after such an action packed opener. I know every week can't be that exciting but now that they are going back to Carol and Morgan this week I feel like they are going to slow things down and drag things along. Man I hope I am wrong cause there are some serious story lines they can be working on every week.........

I think the way this show operates, they have an episode like they did last week followed by a much more mellow episode. I expect tonight to be a lot of reflecting on what has happened and what will be. And of course, Carol and Morgan, like you mentioned.

Tell you the truth, I could use an easy episode after last week :lolol:

It should have been Aaron, nothing against him, the actor does a good job, he just doesn't offer the show much and thats not his fault, just the way his character has been written. And maybe thats why they didn't choose him, because they are trying to make you hate Negan as much as possible, but I think that would have been accomplished just by Glenn alone. I wonder if any other member of the group will fall to Lucile before this is resolved.
